The forces released by the Chinese dissident student movement have not been completely suppressed, despite the brutal crackdown that followed the Tiananmen Square massacre. In China a new generation is coming to power, taking over from the gerontacracy which has characterized the Chinese government for so long. Comprised of technocrats and entrepreneurs, businessmen and intellectuals, the new breed is determined to remove the lingering shadows of totalitarianism and corruption.
