Sivu 139 - be it further enacted, that the said secretary shall cause a seal of office to be made for the said department of such device as the president of the United States shall approve, and all copies of records and papers in the said office, authenticated under the said seal, shall be evidence equally as the original record or paper.
Sivu 590 - however minute, or however remote from the scene of action, and who are actually leagued in the general conspiracy, are to be considered as traitors. But there must be an actual assembling of men, for the treasonable purpose, to constitute a levying of war.
Sivu 291 - require or provide, shall be regarded as rules of decision, in trials at common law, in the courts of the United States, in cases where they apply.
Sivu 2 - upon conviction, be adjudged guilty of a high misdemeanor, " and shall suffer fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of " the court in which the conviction shall be had, so as that " such fine shall not exceed three thousand dollars, nor the -*' term of imprisonment be more than three years.
Sivu 2 - an act in addition to the act for the punishment of certain crimes against the United States," continued for limited periods by several succeeding laws, and continued without limitation by an act passed in 1799.
Sivu 305 - death, in which case it shall not be admitted but by the supreme or a circuit court, or by a justice of the supreme court, or a judge of a district court, who shall exercise their discretion therein, regarding the nature and circumstances of the offence, and of the evidence and the usages of law.
