NOTE.

This Report is issued in accordance with Article 7 of the Convention relating to the Liquor Traffic in Africa, signed at Saint-Germainen-Laye, September 10th, 1919, which provides that each of the High Contracting Parties shall publish an Annual Report showing the quantities of spirituous beverages imported or manufactured, and the import and excise duties levied. The provisions of that Convention do not apply to Egypt or to the Union of South Africa.

The hectolitre is taken as equivalent to 22 gallons. In the case of fractional amounts, the nearest whole number is taken.

No spirituous beverages are manufactured in the Dependencies included in the Report, and no excise duties are leviable.

The "strength of proof" means 57.1 per cent. of absolute alcohol by volume at 60° Fahrenheit.
