147. Christ's resurrection is declared by two

angels.

Now upon the first day of the week, very L. 24. 1 early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they 2 found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body 3 of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as 4 Acts 1. they were much perplexed thereabout, a behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: and as they were afraid, and bowed down their 5 faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? he is not 6 here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, saying, 7 The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered 8 his words, and returned from the sepulchre, 9 and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and 10 Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. And their words seemed to 11 them as idle tales, and they believed them not. Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre ; 12 and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

And they talked together of all these things 15 which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16 But their eyes were holden that they should 17 not know him. And he said unto them, "What "manner of communications are these that ye

Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which 23 were early at the sepulchre; and when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that 24 he was alive. And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they 25 saw not. Then he said unto them, "O 2 fools, "and slow of heart to believe all that the pro26"phets have spoken: Ought not Christ to Acts 17. "have suffered these things, and to enter into

150. The incredulity and confession of Thomas. J. 20. 24 BUT Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didy25 mus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will 26 not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace be unto you." 27 Then saith he to Thomas, "Reach hither thy "finger, and behold my hands; and reach 1 John “hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: 28" and be not faithless, but believing." 151. Christ appeareth again to his disciples.
THEN the eleven disciples went away into
Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had ap-
pointed them. And when they saw him, they 17
worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus 18
came and spake unto them, saying,
"a All power

After these things Jesus shewed himself again J. 21. 1 to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on 10, 21. this wise shewed he himself. There were toge- 2 Phil. 2.9, ther Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, 1.2. & 2.8. and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons 1Pet.3.22 of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. 3 They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But 4 when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, 5 Children, have ye any meat?" They answered him, No. And he said unto them, "Cast the 6 "net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall "find." They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. Therefore that disciple whom unto Peter, It is the Lord. Peter heard that it was the 2 fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. And the other 8 disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. As soon 9 then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. Jesus saith unto them, "Bring of the fish which 10 ye have now caught." Simon Peter went up, 11 and drew the net to land full of great fishes,
