II. And be it further ordained, That it shall be the duty of the Inspector of the Corporation, and he is hereby strictly enjoined and required, to give immediate information to the Mayor, Recorder, or one of the Aldermen of the Corporation, of all offences which shall be committed in violation of this Ordinance, in order that measures may be taken for the prosecution of offenders, according to the direction hereof; and all fines and forfeitures herein imposed, when received, shall be for the use of the Corporation.

LOAF BREAD.

An Ordinance to regulate the manufacture and sale of
Loaf Bread.

(Passed Nov. 27, 1829.)

1. Be it ordained by the Common Council of the Bo rough of Norfolk, in Common Hall assembled, That all Loaf Bread baked and offered or exposed for sale within this Corporation, shall be made of good and wholesome flour, and in loaves of four pounds, two pounds, one pound, or half-a-pound avoirdupoise weight; which loaves shall have the figure or figures 4, 2, 1 or . according to the weight thereof, stamped thereon, by a die not less than one inch and a half long.

II. And be it further ordained, That if any Baker or other person shall make for sale, offer or procure to be sold, any Bread of any other than good and wholesome flour, or in a loaf or leaves of any other size, weight or description, than is above prescribed, he or she shall forfeit and pay the sum of five dollars for every such

offence.

III. And be it further ordained, That every Baker, or other person offering Loaf Bread for sale, within this Corporation, shall keep at his or her house, or at such other place at which he or she shall at any time offer or expose for sale any such bread, sufficient scales and weights, lawfully regulated, for the purpose of weighing or enabling other persons to weigh the same, and any Baker or other person failing or neglecting herein, shall forfeit and pay the sum of five dollars.

IV. And be it further ordained, That all Loaf Bread offered for sale within this Corporation, not in conformity with this Ordinance, shall be forfeited, and shall, and may be scized by the Inspector, the Clerk of the Market, or any of the Constables of the Borough, and disposed of for the use of the poor of the Corporation; and every fine, forfeiture and penalty which may be incurred under this Ordinance may be prosecuted, recovered and received by warrant, or otherwise, for the use and benefit of any person, who shall sue for the

same.

V. And be it further ordained, That all Ordinances coming within the purview of this Ordinance, shall be, and the same are hereby repealed. and that this Ordinance shall be in force from and after the first day of January next.

An Ordinance to repeal an Ordinance entitled “an Ordinance to regulate the manufacture and sale of Loaf Bread."

(Passed 22d Dec. 1829.).

I. Be it ordained by the Common Council of the Borough of Norfolk, That the Ordinance entitled "an Ordinance to regulate the manufacture and sale of Loaf Bread," shall be, and the same is hereby repealed.

II. This Ordinance shall be in force from the passing thereof.

AN ORDINANCE

Confirming this Revised Code of the Corporation, and repealing all former Ordinances not contained herein.

I. Be it ordained by the Common Council of the Borough of Norfolk, in Common Hall assembled, That the foregoing Ordinances and parts of Ordinances, contained and published in this revised Book of Ordinan ces, shall be, and the same are hereby declared to be in full force and operation, from and after the first day of February next.

II. And be it further ordained, That all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances which are not contained or published in this said revised Book of Ordinances, shall be and the same are hereby repealed from and after the said first day of February next. Provided, however, that such repeal shall not prevent the prose cution of any offence committed, or impair any right accrued before the said first day of February next, but such offence may be prosecuted, and such right may be asserted and maintained in the same manner as if this repealing section had never passed.

III. This Ordinance shall commence and be in force from and after the passing thereof.
