PSAL. CXLVII. N.

Raife ye the Lord, for it is good
unto our God to fing:
For it is pleafant, and to praise
it is a comely thing.

2 The Lord his own Jerufalem
he buildeth up alone:
And the difperft of Ifrael
doth gather into one.

3 He heals the broken in their heart,
their fores up doth he bind :
He counts the number of the ftars,
and names them in their kind.

4 Great is the Lord, great is his power his wifdom infinite:

The Lord relieves the meek, and throws to ground the wicked wight.

Sing unto God the Lord with praise unto the Lord rejoyce: And to our God upon the harp advance your finging voice.

6 He covers heav'n with clouds, and for the earth prepareth rain:

And on the mountains he doth make the grafs to grow again.

He gives to beafts their food, and to young ravens when they cry: His pleasure not in strength of horse, nor in mans legs doth lie.

8 But in all thofe that do him fear,
the Lord hath his delight,
And fuch as do attend upon
his mercies fhining light.

The Second Part

90 Praife the Lord, Jerufalem,
thy God, O Sion, praife:
For he the bars hath forged ftrong,
wherewith thy gates he ftays.
10 Thy children in thee he hath bleft,
and in thy borders he

Doth fettle peace, and with the flour
of wheat he filleth thee.

II And his command likewife upon
the carth he fendeth out:
Alfo his word with speedy courfe
doth fwiftly run about.

12 He giveth fhow like wool, and froft like afhes fcatters wide

Like morfels cafts his ice, the cold thereof who can abide?

3 He fendeth forth his mighty word, and melteth them again:

His wind he makes to blow, and then
the waters flow amain.
14 The doctrine of his holy word,
to Jacob he doth fhew:
His ftatutes and his judgments he
gives Ifrael to know.

15 With any nation hath he not
to dealt, nor have they known
His fecret judgments, ye therefore
praife ye the Lord alone,

Har man foever he be, that falvation hopes to gain, The Catholick Belief he must before all things retain.

2 Which Faith unlefs he whole do keep,
and undefiledly,
Eternally, without all doubt,
he fhall be fure to die.

3 The Catholick Belief is this,
that God we worship one
In Trinity, and Trinity
in Unity alone

4 So as we neither do confound
the Perfons of the Three:

Nor yet the fubftance whole of one in funder parted be.

5 One Perfon of the Father is, another of the Son:

Another Perfon proper of
the Holy Ghoft alone.

6 Of Father, Son, and Holy Ghoft,
but one the Godhead is:
Glory the fame, co-eternal
the Majefty likewife.

Such as the Father is, fuch is
the Son in each degree:
And fuch alfo we do believe
the Holy Ghoft to be.
8 The Father he is uncreate,
and uncreate the Son:
The Holy Ghoft is uncreate,
fo uncreate each one,

9 Father incomprehenfible,
fo likewife is the Son:
Comprehenfible alfo is

the Holy Ghott of none.
10 The Father is eternal, and
the Son eternal fo:

And in like fort eternal is

the Holy Ghoit also.

11 And yet tho' we believe that each
of thefe eternal be:

Yet there but one Eternal is,
and not Eternals three.
12 As not incomprehenfible,
nor yet uncreate three:

But one Incomprehenfible,
one increate hold we.
13 As the Father almighty is,
the Son is fo likewife:
And in like manner almighty
the Holy Spirit is.

[ocr errors]

14 And albeit that ev'ry one
of thefe almighty be:
Yet there but one Almighty is,
and not Almighties three.
15 The Father God is, God the Son;
God Holy Ghoft alfo :

Yet are there not three Gods to be,
but one God, and no mo.
16 So likewife Lord the Father is,
and Lord alfo the Son:

And Lord the Holy Choft; yet are
there not three Lords, but one.
17 For as we are compell'd to grant
by Chriftian Verity,

Each of the Perfons by himfelt
both God and Lord to be
18 So Catholick Religion doth
fridly forbid alway,

That either Gods be three, or that
there Lords be three, to fay.

19 Of none the Father is, not made,
created, nor begot:

The Son is of the Father, not
create, nor made, but got.

20 The Holy Gholt is of them both,
the Father and the Son:

Not made, created, nor begot,
but doth proceed alone.

21 So we one Father hold only,
one Son alfo, not three:
One Holy Ghoft alone, and not
three Holy Ghofts to be.
22 None in this Trinity before,
nor after other is:

Nor greater any than the reft,
nor lefier be likewife.

23 But ev'ry one among themselves
of all the Perfons three:
Together co-eternal all,
and all co-equal be."
24 So Unity in Trinity,
as it is aid before:
And Trinity in Unity
