Some of the Chants are divided into parts: in some cases this is d one for bretity' s s'ake but tn others, (as in Nos 33, to allow of their being sung in the Hebrew manner, by alternate choirs, both joining in the concluding doxology.-nos. 62 and 88 should be sung to a chant which admits of change from Minor to Major. - The re sponsive Services are intended principally for the use of Sunday Schools; where the Chant will be found a valuable means of interesting the young in the poetical parts of the Sacred Scriptures.-'l'he Second Doxology was the one ordinarily sung in the earl Christian Churches. Hymns at the close of the olume are inserted for the benefit of those congregations Vi hich employ the Hymns for the Christian Church and Home.
