An Act to increase the capital of the Sheffield, Ashton-under-Lyne, and Manchester Railway Company, and to alter and enlarge the powers of the said Company.

An Act for making a railway from the Great Western Railway to the city of Oxford.

An Act for authorising the sale and application of certain property vested in the Commissioners for making the river Thames navigable from Bercot, in the county of Oxford, to the University and city of Oxford.

An Act for more effectually repairing the road from the town of Cockermouth to the town of Maryport, and other roads therein mentioned, and for making a branch road connected therewith, all in the county of Cumberland.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint Adolphus Turner, Esq. to be Her Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires and Consul-General in the Oriental Republick of the Uruguay.

The Queen has also been pleased to appoint Niven Kerr, Esq. to be Her Majesty's Consul in the island of Cyprus.

The Queen has also been pleased to appoint Thomas Pennington, Esq. to be Her Majesty's Consul in the island of Corsica.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint Colonel James Priaulx to be Her Majesty's Aide-de-Camp for the service of Her Militia in Guernsey, vice John Guille, Esq. who has been appointed Bailiff of Guernsey. Dated 4th April 1843.

THE Poor Law Commissioners do hereby give notice, that Alfred Power, Esq. an Assistant Poor Law Commissioner, hath been directed to carry into execution an Act, passed in the second year of the reign of Her Majesty, intituled "An Act for the more effectual relief of the destitute poor in Ireland."

THIS day, at a quarter past twelve o'clock, His Royal Highness Augustus Frederick Duke of Sussex, Uncle to Her Most Gracious Majesty, departed this life, at Kensington-Palace, to the great grief of Her Majesty and of all the Royal Family.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint Archibald John Earl of Rosebery, K. T. to be Lieutenant and Sheriff Principal of the shire of Linlithgow, in the room of John Earl of Hopetoun, deceased.

The Queen has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, granting the dignity of a Knight of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland unto Captain Robert Oliver, R. N. Superintendent of the Indian Navy.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint the Reverend Vincent John Stanton to be Chaplain of the colony of Hong Kong.

ORDERS for the Court's going into Mourning on Sunday next the 23d instant, for His late Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex, Uncle to Her Majesty, viz.

The Ladies to wear black silk, fringed or plain linen, white gloves, necklaces and ear-rings, black or white shoes, fans and tippets.

The Gentlemen to wear black, full trimmed, fringed or plain linen, black swords and buckles. The Court to change the Mourning, on Sunday the 7th of May next, viz.

The Ladies to wear black silk or velvet, coloured ribbons, fans and tippets, or plain white, or white and gold, or white and silver stuffs, with black ribbons.

The Gentlemen to wear black coats, and black or plain white, or white and gold, or white and silver stuff waistcoats, full trimmed, coloured swords and buckles.

And, on Sunday the 14th of May next, the Court to go out of Mourning.
