ordered, that writs of subpoena do issue as heretofore, with the proper alteration, and do name the assizes either at Warwick or Coventry, as the case may be, where the attendance of the witnesses is to be given; and that all writs of jury process, and all other writs, be altered in like manner; but that no alteration be necessary in any mittimus to the said county of Warwick, for the trial of any issue joined in any of Her Majesty's courts at Westminster; and further, that the assize writs and subpoenas, to be hereafter issued for the next assize, may be tested on the day of the date of this Order, or afterwards, as the case may require, and, for any subsequent assizes, may be tested in manner heretofore used and accustomed :

And the Right Honourable the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain is to give the necessary directions herein accordingly.

Office of the Poor Law Commission,

Somerset-House, February 22, 1843.

This is to give notice, that the Poor Law Commissioners did, on the 18th day of February instant, in pursuance of the powers given to them by an Act, passed in the last session of Parliament, and with the consent of the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury, and with the approval of the Right Honourable Sir James Graham, Bart. one of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, appoint Arthur Farre, Esq. a Doctor in Medicine, and Henry Hancock, Esq. a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of London, to be Assistant Commissioners, for the period of thirty days from the said 18th day of February instant, for the purpose of enquiring specially into the alleged ill treatment or neglect of the infant pauper children of the parish of St. Mary-le-bone, in the county of Middlesex.

And that the said Arthur Farre and Henry Hancock, respectively, did, on the 22d day of February instant, take the oath required by the said Act, before the Honourable Mr. Justice Coleridge, one of the Judges of Her Majesty's Court of Queen's Bench, at his chambers, in Rolls'-gardens, Chancery-lane, London.

At the Court at Buckingham-Palace, the 24th day of February 1843,

PRESENT,

The QUEEN's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

WHEREAS by an Act, passed in the session of Parliament holden in the third and fourth years of the reign of His late Majesty King William the Fourth, intituled "An Act to regu"late the trade to China and India," it was, amongst other things, enacted, that it should and might be lawful for His Majesty, by any such Order or Orders, Commission or Commissions, as to His Majesty in Council should appear expedient and salutary, to give to the Superintendents in the said Act mentioned, or any of them, powers and authorities over and in respect of the trade and commerce of His Majesty's subjects within any part of the dominions of the Emperor of China, and to make and issue directions and regulations touching the said trade and commerce, and for the government of His Majesty's subjects within the said dominions, and to impose penalties, forfeitures, or imprisonments for the breach of any such directions or regulations, to be enforced in such

manner as in the said Order or Orders should be specified :

Now, therefore, Her Majesty in Council is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to prohibit, and doth hereby prohibit, Her subjects from resorting, for the purposes of trade and commerce, to any other ports in the dominions of the Emperor of China than those of Canton, Amoy, Foo-chow-foo, Ningpo, and Shanghae, or than may be in the occupation of Her Majesty's forces; and Her Majesty is pleased to order, that any of Her subjects, committing a breach or violation of this direction, shall, upon conviction thereof in any of Her Majesty's Courts of Record or Vice-Admiralty, be, for every such offence, liable to a penalty, not exceeding one hundred pounds, or to imprisonment, for a term not exceeding three months, at the discretion of the Court before which the conviction shall take place; and Her Majesty is hereby further pleased to order, that all proceedings, which may be had under this Order, shall be, as far as circumstances will permit, in conformity with the Law of England:

And the Right Honourable the Earl of Aberdeen, and the Right Honourable Lord Stanley, two of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State; the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury; and the Commissioners for executing the office of Lord High Admiral; are to give the necessary directions herein as to them may respectively appertain.

WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England have, in pursuance of an Act, passed in the session of Parliament held in the third and fourth years of Her Majesty's reign, intituled "An Act to carry into effect, with "certain modifications, the fourth report of "the Commissioners of Ecclesiastical Duties and "Revenues," duly prepared and laid before Her Majesty in Council a scheme, bearing date the eleventh day of February one thousand eight hundred and forty-three, in the words and figures following, that is to say:

"We, the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England, in pursuance of an Act, passed in the session of Parliament held in the third and fourth years of your Majesty's reign, intituled "An Act "to carry into effect, with certain modifications, "the fourth report of the Commissioners of "Ecclesiastical Duties and Revenues," have prepared, and now humbly lay before your Majesty in Council, the following scheme, for severing the Rectory of Elingham from the Mastership of St. Mary Magdalene College, in the University of Cambridge, and for authorising the sale of the advowson of the said rectory.

"Whereas it is by the said recited Act enacted, "that so soon as conveniently may be, and by the authority thereinafter provided, such arrangements may be made with respect to benefices which are annexed by Act of Parliament, or otherwise, to
