4. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye : and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye ?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. .

6 Give not that which is boly unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find : knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth: and he that seeketh findeth ; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent ?

1 If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him ?

12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and sew there be that find it.

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles ? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore, by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many shall say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we pot prophesied in thy name ? and in thy name have cast out devils ? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house : and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand : And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell : and great was the fall of it:

28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these, sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes."

LESSO N. XXV.

Matthew, Chap. 3 Luke, Chap. 7. When he was come down from the mountain great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

3 And Jesus put forth his hand," and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. - 4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, and saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under niy roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh ; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed him, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no not in Israel.

11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac. and Jacob in the kingdoin of heaven:

12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the self-same hour.

11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain : and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. , 12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

LESSON XXVI.

Matthew, Chap. 8. Mark, Chap. 5. 18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto lim, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto him, The Foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man hath not where to lay his head. · 23 And when he was entered into a ship, bis disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves : but he was asleep.' '

25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us : we perish. And he arose, and rebuked the vind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calma.

40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful ? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, anu said one to arother, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? (1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out 0. the ship, immediately there met him out of the toxobs a

man with an unclean spirit; who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains :

4. Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any mau tame him.

5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, and cried with a loud voice, and said, what have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

8 (For he said unto him, come out of the man thou unclean spirit.) And he asked him, What is thy name ? and he answered, sayir.g, My name is Legion : for we are inany.

10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

11 Now there was there, nigh unto the mountains, a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine ; and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand,) and were choked in the sea.

14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. · 15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind; and they were afraid. · 16 And they that saw it told them how it befel to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.

19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not; but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compasssion on thee.

20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him, and he was nigh unto the sea.

LESSON XXVII.!

Luke, Chap. 3, 9. Matthew, Chap. 9. 41 And behold there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue ; and he fell down at Jesus, feet, and besought him that he would come into his house :

42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. (But as he weut the people thronged him.

43 And a woman who had been afflicted twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately she was healed. . .

45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter, and they that were with him, said, Master, the multitude throng thee, and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately :

48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith bath made thee whole : go in peace.). · 49 While he yet spake tlaere cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead ; trouble not the master. But when Jesus heard it he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

51 And when he came into the house, he suffered po man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

52 And all wept, and bewailed her. But he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Damsel, I say unto thee, Arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her nieat. And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David have inercy
