February 10-Quinquagesima Sunday--I preached twice, administered the Lord's Supper, and confirmed three persons, at Valparaiso, a new Missionary station; and also preached again in the evening of the following day. This Mission was commenced, at my request, in October last, by the Rev. Mr. Wright, of Michigan City, who celebrated the service of the Church for the first time in this flourishing county town. He has been very successful in his labors there, and has commended the Church, her doctrines and usages, to general acceptance. I found a large and commodious room, hired by the persons attached to our communion, and fitted up with all the appliances required for the due celebration of divine service according to our ritual; and, on each occasion of worship, filled with an overflowing congregation, apparently deeply interested in, as they certainly were very attentive to, the services. A Parish has since been organized, and an application will be made at this session of the Convention for admission into union therewith. February 13-Ash Wednesday--I preached twice, and confirmed fire persons, in Trinity Church, Michigan City. February 14-I preached, and confirmed two persons, in St. Paul's Church, Laporte. This Parish is now vacant, the Rev. Almon Gregory having resigned the Rectorship on the 1st of April.

February 17-1st Sunday in Lent-I preached twice, administered the Lord's Supper, and confirmed one person, in St. Mark's Church, Lima. This Parish is served by the Rev. Henry M. Thompson, alternately with that of St. John's Church, Bristol.

February 20-I preached, and confirmed eight persons, in St. John's Church, Bristol, and preached again the following day.

February 24-2d Sunday in Lent-I preached twice, and confirmed six persons, in the temporary place of worship of St. James' Church, Goshen. A beautiful Church edifice of brick has been commenced in this Parish, and covered in. Its completion has been deferred, but will probably be accomplished during the coming season.

February 26-I preached twice, baptized an adult, and confirmed five persons in St. Paul's Church, Mishawaka; the following day preached again, and baptized three children; and, in the evening of the same day, I preached, and confirmed one person, at South Bend, a Missionary station. The Rev. Joseph Adderly has, I learn, received and accepted an invitation to the Pastoral charge of this Parish, in connection with South Bend; but I have not yet received. his letter of transfer to this Diocese, nor an official notice. of his election.

March 3-3d Sunday in Lent-I preached twice, read prayers once, and administered the Lord's Supper, in Christ Church, Indianapolis, the Rector being indisposed.

March 9-I confirmed a sick person, in private, in the Parish of St. John's Church, Lafayette.

March 10-4th Sunday in Lent-I preached twice, and administered the Lord's Supper, in St. Mary's Church' Delphi.

March 13-I preached, and baptized an infant, in the (vacant) Parish of St. James' Church, Peru.

March 15--I read prayers, and preached, at Plymouth, a Missionary station. A neat and commodious Church edifice has been erected here, the cost of which has been mostly defrayed by the liberality of Henry C. Carter, Esq., of New York city, who had also donated two large lots of ground for the site of the building, which will afford also a site for a parsonage, which I trust will be erected at no very distant day.

March 17-5th Sunday after Lent-I preached twice, and confirmed seven persons, in Trinity Church, Ft. Wayne.

March 24-6th Sunday in Lent-I preached twice, and confirmed eight persons, in St. Paul's Church, New Albany; and assisted in the services in the morning of the following. day, and preached in the evening; and again the next morning assisted in the services.

March 27--I preached twice in St. Paul's Church, Jeffersonville, baptized an infant, and confirmed a sick person, in private.

March 29-Good Friday-I preached twice, and confirmed six persons (special), in Christ Church, Madison.

March 31-Easter Day-I read prayers, and preached twice, and administered the Lord's Supper, in Trinity Church, Lawrenceburgh.

April 7-1st Sunday after Easter-I read prayers, and preached, and administered the Lord's Supper, in the temporary place of worship of St. John's Church, Mount Vernon; a storm, of unusual severity, prevented me from officiating in the evening.

April 8-I preached in St. Stephen's Church, New Harmony, and confirmed one person; the following day I celebrated a marriage in the same Church; and in the evening of that day I preached, and confirmed two persons, in St. John's Church, Mount Vernon.

April 14-2d Sunday in Easter-I preached twice, and confirmed six persons, in St. Stephen's Church, Terre Haute. The Rev. William G. Spencer has resigned thes Rectorship of this Parish.

ette.

May 8-I preached, and confirmed three persons, in Trinity Church, Vanderburgh County.

May 9 Ascension Day-I preached twice, and confirmed eight persons, in St. Paul's Church, Evansville.

May 12 Sunday after Ascension Day-I preached twice, administered the Lord's Supper, and confirmed four persons, in St. James' Church, Vincennes.

May 17-I read prayers, preached, and baptized an infant, at Warsaw, a new Missionary station. Our services. had been initiated here about the middle of April, by the Rev. Mr. Wright, who had officiated at my request, in consequence of a communication I had received from a gentletleman of the place, a communicant of the Church. The representations made in his letter of the good prospect for the introduction of our services, were confirmed by the inquiries and observations of the Missionary; and have been further confirmed by my own observations. A permanent place of worship has been rented, and is now being fitted up for our services-a procedure all important in any attempt to build up a congregation. Measures have been. adopted for the organization of a Parish, and a request will be presented at our present session for admission into union with the Convention.

May 19-Whit Sunday-I read prayers, and preached twice, baptized an adult, administered the Lord's Supper, and confirmed three persons, in St. Thomas' Church, Plymouth; the name adopted for the Parish at a meeting held for its organization, subsequent to my brief visit in March. An application will be made for the admission of this Parish into union with the Convention. Divine service was celebrated in the new Church edifice mentioned in the record of my previous visit, and was attended by a respectable and attentive congregation. The building will probably be consecrated in the course of the summer, as soon as permanent seats are put in, and the chancel appliances completed.

This Parish, as the center, with Warsaw on the East, and Valparaiso on the West-an account of a subsequent visit to which will be presently mentioned-all situated on the Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne, and Chicago Railroad, I have formed into one mission, to be served by one Missionary, on alternate Sundays. It is the best arrangement I can make

under present circumstances, and I anticipate from it satisfactory results.

From Plymouth, I proceeded to Nashotah, Wisconsin, to attend the annual meeting of the Trustees of Nashotah House, of which I am one, and assist at the annual ordination of the graduating class, two members of which were candidates for Holy Orders in this Diocese, one of them transferred to my jurisdiction, during my visit, by the Bishop of Wisconsin. I found this valuble Theological Seminary in a very satisfactory condition, and doing a great work for the Church through the thorough instruction given by its able President and Professors in training young men for the sacred ministry. The examination of the graduating class evinced an accurate knowledge of the several subjects. embraced in the Theological Seminary; and, with this, a gratifying indication of the necessary qualifications in other respects for an acceptable and useful prosecution of the work of the ministry. The Institution is unendowed, and mainly dependent on the contributions of the friends of the Church for the support of its Professors and students, which support is of the most economical kind, and far from being adequate. I commend it again, as I have done before, to the liberal assistance of the congregations of this Diocese, and of individuals. It is practically our own Diocesan Seminary, and more than serves the purpose of such an institution in our midst, even were it advisable or practicable to establish one under existing circumstances.

The ordination was held on Trinity Sunday, May 26th, in the new and beautiful chapel of the Seminary, only partially finished, and requiring additional contributions for its completion, which, I trust, will be forthcoming in part from this Diocese. There were seven candidates, who had completed the prescribed course of study, admitted to the Deaconate-five by the Bishop of Wisconsin, and two by myself, to-wit: Mr. Louis P. Tschifelly and Mr. William S. Rowe. On this occasion, morning prayer was read by the Rev. Mr. Beers, of Wisconsin, and the Rev. Mr. Walbridge, of Ohio. The Sermon was preached by the Rev. Dr.
