that thou hast hitherto forborne to snatch us away in the midst of sin and folly, and still permittest us to enjoy the means of grace, and time for repentance. We thank thee for all thy mercies from the beginning of our lives to this day. Pardon, we humbly beseech thee, most merciful Father, all our sins for the sake of Jesus Christ our Saviour; and grant that thy goodness and forbearance may not be in vain, but that it may lead us to repentance, and that we may daily grow in grace and holiness, and in the knowledge, and faith, and love, of thee and thy Son Jesus Christ our Saviour; carefully improving the time that remains, and earnestly striving that we may daily become fitter for thy heavenly kingdom. Make us to remember, that as years and days pass over us, we approach nearer to the grave, where there is no repentance: and so teach us to number our days, that, by the assistance of thy Holy Spirit, we may seriously apply our hearts to that holy and heavenly wisdom while we live here, which may in the end bring us to life everlasting, through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ thy Son, our Lord and Savionr. O FATHER of mercies, and God of all comfort, almighty and most merciful Saviour, our only help in time of need; hear us, we humbly beseech thee, in behalf of thy servant who is grieved with sickhim with the eyes of thy mercy, Look upon and send him help from thy holy place. Sanctify, we beseech thee, thy fatherly correction to him; that the sense of his weakness may add strength to his faith, and seriousness to his repentance. Give him comfort and sure confidence in thee: that if it shall be thy good pleasure to restore him to his former health, he may lead the residue of his life in thy fear and to thy glory; or else, give him grace so to take thy visitation, that, after this painful life is ended, he may dwell with thee in life everlasting, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
