mandments. Mortify, we beseech thee, and kill all vices in us, and so strengthen us by thy grace, that by the innocency of our lives, and the constancy of our faith, even unto death, we may glorify thy holy name. Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning, grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and comfort of thy holy word, we may embrace, and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which thou hast given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ.

O Lord, we beseech thee to keep thy household the Church in continual godliness; that, through thy protection, it may be free from all adversities, and devoutly given to serve thee in good works, to the glory of thy name: and, O merciful God, have mercy upon the heathen, and them that know not or despise the Gospel of thy Son; and take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord, to thy flock, that they may be saved among the remnant of the true Israelites, and be made one fold, under one Shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord. Guide, we beseech thee, and govern the minds of thy servants the Bishops and Pastors of thy flock; and give them thy grace and heavenly benediction, that

both by their life and doctrine they may set forth thy glory, and set forward the salvation of all men. Strengthen the hands of our gracious Sovereign, and all that are put in authority under him, against all workers of iniquity; that he and his realms being preserved in thy true religion, we may all duly serve thee, and give thee thanks in thy holy congregation. Strengthen such as do stand, comfort and help the weak hearted, raise up them that fall, and finally beat down Satan under our feet.

We laud and magnify thy glorious name, O heavenly Father, who hast purchased to thyself a universal Church with the precious blood of thy dear Son; and that we are heirs, through hope, of thine everlasting kingdom, by the merits of His most precious death and passion. We bless thee, also, for thy preservation of us, and providence over us: humbly beseeching thee to lighten our darkness, and by thy great mercy to preserve us from all the perils and dangers of this night; and to assist us with thy grace, that we may continue in the holy fellowship of Christ's mystical body, which is the blessed company of all faithful people, and do all such good works as thou hast prepared for us to walk in.

These things, O Lord, we humbly beg, for ourselves, our relations and friends, for thy whole

Church, and all for whom we should pray, in the name and mediation of Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord; by whom, and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end.

THURSDAY MORNING.

Let us Pray.

O HEAVENLY Father, hear our prayer, and let our cry come unto thee, through the mediation of Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord.

O holy, blessed, and glorious Trinity, three persons and one God, have mercy upon us miserable sinners; and grant that we, who for our evil deeds do worthily deserve to be punished, by the comfort of thy grace may mercifully be relieved. Give us unfeigned repentance for all the errors of our life past, and steadfast faith in thy Son Jesus; that our sins may be done away by thy mercy, and our pardon sealed in heaven, for His merits who died for us.

Keep us, we beseech thee, O Lord, this day under the protection of thy good providence, and make us to have a perpetual fear and love of thy holy name. From all evil and mischief, from sin, from the crafts and assaults of the devil, from thy wrath, and from everlasting damnation, good Lord deliver us. Of thy tender love toward mankind, thou hast sent thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ to take upon Him our flesh, and to suffer death upon the cross, that all mankind should follow the example of His great

humility, mercifully grant that we may both follow the example of His patience, and also be made partakers of His resurrection. O Lord who hast taught us that all our doings without charity are nothing worth, pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of charity, the very bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whosoever liveth is counted dead before thee: and grant, we beseech thee, that we may so faithfully serve thee in this life, that we fail not finally to attain thy heavenly promises. Defend us, thy humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in thy defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries; and in all time of our tribulation, in all time of our wealth, in the hour of death, and in the day of judgment, good Lord deliver us.

Let thy blessing be upon all our relations and friends; endue them with thy Holy Spirit; enrich them with thy heavenly grace; prosper them with all happiness; and bring them to thine everlasting kingdom. O Lord, save the King; endue thy ministers with thy righteousness; bless thine inheritance, and make thy chosen people joyful. Give peace in our time, O Lord; and evermore mightily defend us.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we, thine unworthy servants, do give thee most humble and
