hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving kindness to us, and to all men. We bless thee for our creation, preservation, particularly during the past night, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we may show forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days, through Jesus Christ our Lord; to whom, with thee, and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end.

THURSDAY EVENING.

Let us Pray.

ALMIGHTY GOD, the fountain of all wisdom, who knowest our necessities before we ask, and our ignorance in asking, we beseech thee to have compassion upon our infirmities; and those things, which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask, vouchsafe to give us for the worthiness of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

We, thy creatures, but miserable sinners, do confess that we have forgotten thee, our God, and refused to hearken to the voice of thy word, and to obey thy commandments. But, O heavenly Father, save us for thy mercy's sake in Jesus Christ thy Son; absolve us, we beseech thee, from our offences; that, through thy bountiful goodness, we may be delivered from the bands of those sins which by our frailty we have committed. And as thou hast given thine only Son to die for our sins, and to rise again for our justification, grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness, that we may alway serve thee in pureness of living and truth. Give us grace that, our flesh being subdued to the Spirit, we may ever obey thy godly motions in righteousness

and true holiness. Give unto us that peace which the world cannot give; that both our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee we being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness.

Grant, we beseech thee, O Father, to all our relations, friends, and neighbours, that they, through thy help, may both faithfully live, and walk according to thy will in this life present, and also may be partakers of everlasting glory in the life to come. Forgive our enemies, and turn their hearts. Look with the eyes of thy mercy upon all that are in affliction; give them comfort and sure confidence in thee, defend them from the danger of the enemy, and keep them in perpetual peace and safety.

O Lord, we beseech thee, let thy continual pity cleanse and defend thy Church; and, because it cannot continue in safety without thy succour, preserve it evermore by thy help and goodness; and bring into the way of truth all such as have erred and are deceived. Have mercy upon these kingdoms; and preserve to us our ancient government in Church and State. May it please thee to rule the heart of thy servant William our King and Governor, in thy faith, fear, and love; to endue the Lords of the Council, and all the nobility, with grace, wisdom, and understanding; to bless and keep the magis

trates, giving them grace to execute justice, and to maintain truth: and grant that all things may be so ordered by their endeavours, upon the best and surest foundations, that peace and happiness, truth and justice, religion and piety, may be established among us for all generations.

Blessed Lord, we yield thee unfeigned thanks and praise, as for thy many other great and public mercies, so especially for thy continued preservation of our Church and nation. Not unto us, O Lord, but unto thy name be ascribed all honour, and glory, and praise, with most humble and hearty thanks in all Churches of the saints. And, we beseech thee, give us such a lively and lasting sense of what thou hast done for us, that we may not grow secure and careless in our obedience, by presuming upon thy great and undeserved goodness, but that it may lead us to repentance, and move us to be the more diligent and zealous in all the duties of our religion, which thou hast in a marvellous manner preserved Grant us to be of one heart and one mind in serving thee our God, and in obeying them whom thou hast set over us. Let brotherly kindness, concord, and unity, with all other virtues, so flourish among us, that they may be the stability of our times, and make our Church a praise in the earth.
