SUNDAY MORNING.

Let us Pray.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Father of all mercies, we, thine unworthy servants, humbly beseech thee to accept our morning sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us thy sinful creatures.

Blessed be thy holy name for thy great glory in the creation of all things; more especially in the creation of man after thine own image, capable of loving and enjoying thee to all eternity. But, above all, we praise and magnify thy name, for thine inestimable love to lost mankind, in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for His meritorious death and passion; for His glorious and triumphant resurrection and ascension; and for the Holy Ghost the Comforter.

Glory be to thee, O God, who, in compassion to human weakness, hast appointed a solemn day in every week for the remembrance of these thine inestimable blessings. May we ever esteem it our privilege and happiness to have a day of rest set apart for thy service, and the concerns of our own souls; and may we ever improve it with all care and diligence!

Let thy Holy Spirit, who, on the first day of the week, descended in miraculous gifts and graces on the apostles, descend on us, thy unworthy servants, that we may alway be in the Spirit on the Lord's day let His blessed inspirations prevent and assist us in all its religious duties and services, that we may worship thee as we ought, both in private and in the congregation. May our thoughts be fixed on thee without wandering. May we join in the prayers and praises of thy Church with devout and heavenly affections; and hear thy word with earnest attention, and a firm resolution of mind to observe and obey it. [And when we approach thine altar, pour into our hearts those most excellent graces humility, faith, and love, and all those holy dispositions which become the solemn remembrance of a crucified Saviour.] May we employ this day to all those holy purposes which thou hast appointed; and may the words of our mouths, and the meditations of our hearts, be alway acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, our strength and our Redeemer.

Let us Pray.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men, we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we, from time to time, most grievously have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against thy divine Majesty, provoking, most justly, thy wrath and indignation against us. Have mercy upon us, O God, after thy great goodness; according to the multitude of thy mercies do away our offences, and make in us new and contrite hearts; that we, worthily lamenting our sins, and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Have compassion upon our infirmities, we humbly beseech thee, O Lord, and pardon all those imperfections that have accompanied us this day in our attendance in thy house: mercifully receive the prayers there offered to thee, and sanctify to us all those means of grace of which, by thy bounty, we have been partakers.
