DEVOTIONAL LIFE OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST. BY THE REV. EDWARD L. CUTTS, B.A. Hon. D.D. Univ. of the South, U.S.A. AUTHOR OF TURNING-POINTs of general and of English CHURCH HISTORY," TRLIOTHER PUBLISHED UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE, TRACT COMMITTEE. NUV SR2 BODLEIANA LONDON: SOCIETY FOR PROMOTING CHRISTIAN KNOWLEDGE, 43, QUEEN VIctoria street, E.C.; 48, PICCADILLY, W.; NEW YORK: E. & J. B. YOUNG & Co. 101. f. 789. PREFACE. HAT the writer has proposed to himself in this work is not a detailed Narrative of all that our Blessed Lord did and said, so much as a series of studies of His Person, Character, and Work. The endeavour has been made to impress vividly on the reader's mind that Jesus was a real historical person, perfectly human in character and natural in life; and, at the same time, never to suffer him to lose sight of the great truth that Jesus was very God; and to call attention to the relation of the two Natures in the one Person of the Christ. The endeavour has been made to direct attention not only to the invisible side of the Saviour's work in its relations with God and with the human soul, but also to the human side of His work in the establishment of a kingdom on earth as His agency for carrying out the work of the salvation of men. |
