TO THE QUEEN.

MADAM,

I BEG leave to offer my acknowledgments for the permiffion you have given me to fhelter this small volume under your Majefty's name. But I make the lefs apology for obtruding myself on your notice, convinced, as I am, that the humbleft attempt to recall mankind to a sense of religious and moral duty, will be favourably received by a Perfonage, who, though feated on that eminence which commands obfervation, has been on all hands confeffedly exemplary in the various virtues of her high station.

Long may the peace and profperity of your Majesty's throne remain undisturbed. And many, many years may you continue to live, as you do at present, in the hearts of your affectionate people!

Thus prays your Majesty's most dutiful fubject and fervant,

ASYLUM,

May 14, 1792.

SEPTIMUS HODSON.
