I BEG leave to offer my acknowledgments for the permission you have given me to shelter this small volume under your Majesty's name. But I make the less apology for obtruding myself on your notice, convinced, as I am, that the humblest attempt to recall mankind to a sense of religious and moral duty, will be favourably received by a Personage, who, though feated on that eminence which commands observation, has been on all hands confessedly exemplary in the various virtues of her high station.
Long may the peace and prosperity of your Majesty's throne remain undisturbed. And many, many years may you continue to live, as you do at present, in the hearts of your affectionate people!
