XXVIII. Slothfulness reproved.
Go to the ant, thou sluggard;
Consider her ways, and be wise:
Which having no guide, overseer, or
ruler,

Provideth her meat in the summer,
And gathereth her food in the harvest.*
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard?
When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep:
So shall thy poverty come as one that
travelleth,+

And thy want as an armed man.-
Prov. vi. 6-11.

The ants, in this country, sleep in the winter when awake, they show great foresight and industry, and these are the lessons here taught. + As a highway robber.

XXIX. God all-seeing.

O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,

Thou understandest my thought afar off.

Thou compassest my path and my lying down,

And art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, But, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

Thou hast beset me behind and before,*

And laid thine hand upon me.-Psa. cxxxix. 1-5.

XXX.

*Surrounded me.

God everywhere present. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there :

If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

God everywhere present. Such knowledge is too wonderful forme; It is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:

If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

If I take the wings of the morning,* And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Even there shall thy hand lead me,
And thy right hand shall hold me.
If I say, Surely the darkness shall

cover me;

Even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both

alike to thee.-Psa. cxxxix. 6—12.

* Go as swiftly and as far as the light of the sun.

XXXI.

Praise from the heavens.

Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: Praise him in the heights.

Praise ye him, all his angels:

Praise ye him, all his hosts.
Praise ye him, sun and moon:
Praise him, all ye stars of light.
Praise him, ye heavens of heavens,
And ye waters that be above the hea-

vens.

Let them praise the name of the LORD:
