He saith 19 unto him; Which? Jesus said; "Thou shalt do no murder; Thou shalt not commit adultery; Thou shalt not steal; Thou shalt 19 not bear false witness; Honour thy father and thy moth- 20 er; and; "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy20 self." The young man 21 saith unto him; All these things have I kept from my youth up; what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto him; If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven;

kneeled to him, and asked him; Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him; Why callest thou me good? there is none good, but one, that is God. Thou knowest the commandments; "Do not commit adultery; Do not kill; Do not steal; Do not bear false witness; Defraud not; Honour thy father and mother." And he answered and said unto him; Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him, loved him, and said unto him; One thing thou lackest; go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow

And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them; Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! Now, when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him; Yet lackest thou one thing; sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; 23 and come, follow me. when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said; How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the 25 kingdom of God! For it is

were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves; Who then can 27 be saved? And Jesus looking upon them, saith; With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.

With men this is impossible; but with God all things are 27 possible. Then answered Peter, and said unto him; Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have there28 fore? And Jesus said unto them; Verily I say unto 28 you, that ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the 29 twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundred-fold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

Peter began to say unto him; Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. 29 Jesus answered and said; Verily I say unto you, there is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and for the gospel's sake, but he shall receive a hundred-fold, now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions, and in the world to come, eter31 nal life. MATTHEW XX.

1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, which went out early in the morning to hire 2 labourers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a-day, he sent them into his vine3 yard. And he went out about the third hour, and saw oth4 ers standing idle in the market-place; and said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, I will 5 give you. And they went their way. Again he went out 6 about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing, and saith unto them; Why stand ye here all the

He saith unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. 8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward; Call the labourers, and give them their hire, 9 beginning from the last, unto the first. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every 10 man a penny. But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received 11 every man a penny. And when they had received it, they 12 murmured against the good man of the house, saying;
