13 LUKE XXIV. 27 suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And be- , ginning at Moses, and all the prophets, he expounded unto 28 them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. And they drew nigh unto the village whither they went; and he 29 made as though he would have gone further. But they con strained him, saying ; Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with MARK XIV. 17 LUKE XXIV. And they went and told it 33 And they rose up the same unto the residue ; neither hour, and returned to Jerubelieved they them. salem ; and found the eleven 14 Afterward he appeared unto gathered together, and them the eleven, as they sat at 34 that were with them, saying ; meat ; and upbraided them The Lord is risen indeed, with their unbelief, and hard and hath appeared to Simon. ness of heart, because they 35 And they told what things believed not them which had were done in the way, and seen him after he was risen. how he was known of them in breaking of bread. And as they thus spake, he himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto theni; Peace be unto you. 36 37 LUKE XXIV. JOHN XX. But they were terrified and affrighted, and sup posed that they had seen 38 a spirit. And he said un to them; Why are ye troub led ? and why do thoughts 39 arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself ; handle me, and see ; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see 40 me have. And when he had 20 And when he had so said, thus spoken, he shewed them he shewed unto them his 41 his hands and his feet. And hands and his side. Then while they yet believed not were the disciples glad when for joy, and wondered, he they saw the Lord. said unto them; Have ye LUKE XXIV. 30 them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake and gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he 32 vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another ; Did not our heart burn within us while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures ? 44 LUKE XXIV. 42 here any meat? And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of a honey-comb. 43 And he took it, and did eat before them. And he said unto them ; These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their under standing, that they might un46 derstand the scriptures; and said unto them ; Thus it is LUKE XXIV. written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and re mission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Je48 rusalem. And ye are wit49 nesses of these things. And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but tarry ye in the city, until ye be endued with power from on high. JOHN XX. 21 Then said Jesus to them again ; Peace be unto you ; as my 22 Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them; Receive 23 ye the Holy Ghost. Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. 15 MARK XVI. And he said unto them; Go ye into all the world, 16 and preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved ; but he that believeth not 17 shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that be lieve; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall 18 speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. JOHN XX, But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not 25 with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him ; We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them; Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my 26 hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood 27 in the midst, and said; Peace be unto you. Then saith he 24 JOHN XX. to Thomas; Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands, and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and 28 be not faithless, but believing. Thomas answered and said 29 unto him ; My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him; Because thou has seen me, thou hast believed ; blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. XXI. 1 7 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And on this wise shewed he him2 self. There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas call ed Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the 3 sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them ; I go a fishing. They say unto him ; We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a 4 ship immediately, and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore ; 5. but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them; Children, have ye any meat? They an6 swered him ; No. And he said unto them ; Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast there fore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude 7 of fishes. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter; It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him ; for 8 he was naked ; and did cast himself into the sea. And the other disciples came in a little ship, (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the 9 net with fishes. As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and Jesus saith unto them; Bring of the fish which 11 ye have now caught. Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty and three ; and for all there were so many, yet was not the net bro Jesus saith unto them ; Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him; Who art thou? know13 ing that it was the Lord. Jesus cometh and taketh bread, 14 and giveth them, and fish likewise. This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead. So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter ; Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?' He saith unto him ; Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. 10 bread. 12 ken. 15 JOHN XXI. me ? 16 He saith unto him; Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time; Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou He saith unto him ; Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I 17 love thee. He saith unto him ; Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time ; Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me ? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time; Lovest thou me? And he said unto him ; Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus 18 saith unto him ; Feed my sheep. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, when thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself , and walkedst whither thou wouldest ; but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and 19 carry thee whither thou wouldest not. This spake he, signi fying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had 20 spoken this, he saith unto him ; Follow me. — Then Peter turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, following ; (which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said ; Lord, 21 which is he that betrayeth thee ?) Peter seeing him, saith 22 to Jesus; Lord, and what shall this man do ? Jesus saith unto him; If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to 2 thee ? follow thou me. Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. Yet Jesus said not unto him ; He shall not die ; but; If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true. 24 16 MATTHEW XXVIII. Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a 17 mountain, where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him ; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying ; All power is 19 given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the 20 Son, and of the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you. And, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. MARK XVI.
