house, saying to him; Thy daughter is dead; trouble 50 not the master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying; Fear not; believe only, and she shall be 51 made whole. And when he came to the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother 52 of the maiden. And all wept and bewailed her. But he said; Weep not; she is not 53 dead, but sleepeth. And

they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying; Maid, 55 arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway. And he commanded 56 to give her meat. And her parents were astonished. But he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying; Thou son of David, have mercy 28 on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus saith unto them; Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him; Yea, Lord. 29 Then touched he their eyes, saying; According to your 30 faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened. And Jesus straitly charged them, saying; See that no man

31 know it. But they when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

32 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb 33 man, possessed with a devil. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake. And the multitudes marvelled, say34 ing; It was never so seen in Israel. But the Pharisees said; He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God; and the 2 twelve were with him, and certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities; Mary called Magdalene, out of whom 3 went seven devils, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and 15 Bartholomew, Matthew, and Thomas, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon called 16 the zealot, and Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the 17 traitor ;) and he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the sea-coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be heal18 ed of their diseases; and they that were vexed with unclean spirits; and they 19 were healed. And the

whole multitude sought to touch him; for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

IX.

1 Then he called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to 3 heal the sick. And he said unto them; Take nothing for your journey, neither staff, nor scrip, neither bread
