Communion with Christ.
JESUS invités his saints
To meet around his board ; There pardon'd sinners sweetly hold
Communion with their Lord.
For food he gives his flesh;
He bids us drink his blood : Amazing favour! matchless grace
Of our incarnate God!
The holy bread and wine
Maintains our fainting breath, By union with our living Lord,
And int'rest in his death.
We are but sev'ral parts
Of the same broken bread; One body hath its sev’ral limbs,
But Jesus is the head.
Let all our pow'rs be join'd,
His glorious name to raise ; Let Gratitude fill ev'ry mind,
And er’ry voice be praise.
Institution of the Lord's Supper.
TWAS on that dark, and doleful
night, When pow'rs of earth and hell arose Against the Son of God's delight,
And friends betrayed him to his foes, Before the mournful scene began, He took the bread, and bless'd, and
brake, What love through all his actions ran; What wondrous words of grace he
spake! 56 This is my body, broke for sin ;
Receive and eat the living food :" Then took the cup, and bless'd the wine;
“'Tis the new cov’nant of my blood."
66 In mem'ry of your dying friend,
Meet at my table, and record (Ye and your seed, till time shall end,)
The love of your departed Lord.”
Jesus, thy feast we celebrate,
Weshow thy death, wesing thy name, And hope we may hereafter eat
The marriage supper of the Lamb,
Christ's dying Love.
How condescending, and how kind,
Was God's co-equal Son ! Our mis’ry reach'd his heav'nly mind,
And pity brought him down.
He sunk beneath our heavy woes
To raise us to his throne: There's not a gift his hand bestows, " • But costs his heart a groan.
This was compassion like a God,
That when the Saviour knew The price of pardon was his blood, · His pity ne'er withdrew.
Now though he reigns exalted high,
His love is still as great : Well he remember Calvary,
Nor lets his saints forget.
Here let our hearts begin to melt,
While we his death record ; And, with our joy for pardon'd guilt,
Mourn that we pierc'd the Lord,
Christ our Passover, CHRIST, pur Passover, for us
Is offer'd up and slain !! Let him be remember'd thus
By every soul of man : POU We are bound above the rest
His oblation to proclaim : Keep we then the solemn feast,
The banquet of the Lamb.
Jesus, master of the feast,
The feast itself thou art : Suity Now receive each humble guest, A
And comfort every heart; Give us living bread to eat;3
Manna, that from heav'n came down; Fill us with immortal meat, And make thy nature known.

LAMB of God, whose bleeding love
We thus recal to mind, ;
And let us mercy find :
And ev'ry struggling soul release ; O! remember Calvary,
And bid us go in peace. By thine agonizing pain,
And bloody sweat, we pray, ... By thy dying love to man,
Take all our sins away.
From all iniquity release;
And bid us go in peace.
