A NEW ROLL OF MEMBERS WILL BE PUBLISHED JULY 1. MEMBERS WHO DESIRE ANY CHANGE SHOULD NOTIFY THE SECRETARY AT ONCE.

OUR MOTTO: "Something to be Done By and For Every Member."

JUNE, 1913

"

The Unended Task.

On this Memorial Day comes the martyr's plea, addressed to this generation quite as much as to that which listened with bated breath and awe filled souls, at Gettysburg, half a century ago.

"It is for us, the living, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work-to the great task remaining. From these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure."

The administrative year is drawing rapidly to its close. We have done our best. Yet the task remains unfinished. Each succeeding year finds the influence of the League advanced. May we not now highly resolve that the past labors shall not have been in vain. That the devotion of our former leaders shall be rewarded in a new birth of conscience and of consideration for our fellows. "Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it.

"The mystic chords of memory stretching from every patriot's grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'

We, of a latter day, have entered into the possession and enjoyment of those realities which, in Lincoln's time, were prophetic visions only. This gives assurance that the coming generation of League members will find footing on higher ground because of the foresight, faith and endeavors of the founders and those who worthily followed them F. P. VOSE.

ON TO CAPE MAY.

Number 6

In many respects this is an ideal convention spot. The Cape May Hotel fronts, what is proclaimed to be, the finest beach on the Jersey Coast. That's some! The arrangement of the interior of the hotel will afford the Nineteenth Annual Meeting of the League every possible advantage, comfort and pleasure.

To learn these and other facts your President, in company with Chairman Reber of the Entertainment Committee and Chairman Carr of the Banquet Committee, left Philadelphia at 1 P. M., Monday, June 2nd, in Mr. Reber's high-power Autocar, and before midnight had covered the trip to the Cape and return, a distance of two hundred and fifteen miles.

Speak no more of the alleged somnolent characteristics of our Quaker City cousins. We would have been arrested and fined the price of the car and confined in the solitary for such speed around' Ridgeville, where we live, walk and have our beauteous being. The rates of the Cape May Hotel, based on the American plan, are:

Single room for one without bath.
Double room for two without bath.
Double room for two with bath..

There are twin beds in the double rooms.

The other hotels in Cape May conducted on the American plan and connected by trolley with the Cape May Hotel are.

Colonial-W. H. Church, Mgr.-five-eighths mile distant.
Rates: $3.00 up, with limited number of baths.

Lafayette-Mr. Tracy, Mgr.-five-eighths mile distant.
Rates: $3.00 up, baths limited.

Windsor-Miss Halpin, Mgr.-three-fourths mile distant.
Rates: $3.00 to $4.50, baths limited.

Baltimore Inn-Miss Harrison, Mgr.-two-thirds mile distant.

Rates: $2.00 to $3.00, no private baths.

Chalfonte-Mrs. Satterfield, Mgr.-one-half mile distant.
Rates: $2.50, no private baths.

Star Villa-Mrs. Richardson, Mgr.-five-eighths mile dis-
tant.

Rates: $2.50, no private baths.

There are other hotels in Cape May of about the same vintage with equal conveniences and accommodations, each of them, however, affording ample opportunity for bathing in old ocean.

Chairman Reber has communicated with Mr. Luther Ogden of the Cape May Board of Trade, and he, together with the manager of the Cape May Hotel, will do everything looking toward the care and comfort of League members and guests.

The members will surely do their share toward making the Nineteenth Annual the largest in numbers present and the greatest in interest manifested.

Reserve your rooms now. Even if compelled to cancel later, write or wire the same day you receive this announcement. Don't complain if Mr. Reber's committee cannot give you the bridal suite should you wait till July, which is the height of the vacation and hotel season. If you do not ask now for what you want, somebody else will. What's more, the early bird will benevolently assimilate the worm, while late comers will get board and lodging, but no frills except salt. air.

All the Convention Committees are working nobly in your behalf. It is taking valuable time of high-priced lawyers and not a little real money to get things in shape for the record breaking 'crowd expected. Generously recompense these Committees measure for measure. Boost and boom!

RESERVE IMMEDIATELY.

Bring the family and spend your vacation together on the shore. Board by the week is cheaper than by the day. Health and happiness will attend on each who drops the handle of the grindstone and joins his fellows for this outing and uplift.

There are magnificent rides about Philadelphia in addition to the numerous points of historical interest which may be visited. Gur good friend W. S. Furst initiated your President into the highways and byways of charm and beauty for two hours before depositing him at the depot, homeward bound. The League made possible these friendships with Messrs. Furst, Carr and Reber. It is a delight to meet them and a regret always to leave their wholesome and genial fellowship.
