Increase the Knowledge of the Mystery of Chrift, and diminish Mifapprehenfions;

Teach us to receive thofe that are weak in the Faith, and to avoid doubtful Difputations;

Make the Word of thy Crofs universal among all those that are called by

thy Name;

Unite the Children of God that are scattered abroad, and bring them once

together from the Ends of the World;

Abide their only Shepherd, High-Prieft and Saviour;

Send faithful Labourers into thy Harvest;

Give Spirit and Power to preach thy Word;

Preferve among us the Word of thy Patience till the End of Days;

And glorify thy Wounds and Merits daily by thy Spirit;

Hear us, O dear Lord and God!

Prevent or destroy all Defigns and Schemes of Satan ;

Fight our Battles against him, and defend us against his Accufation;
Let us find with Men that Peace which we have with thee, and with the

reft of thy Creatures;

As for our Slanderers and Perfecutors, lay not that Sin to their Charge;

As well of thofe under the Eastern, Southern and Western Sees, as in the Northern Congregations; and in all other Persuasions and Conftitutions of Chriftendom, thofe not excepted of an erroneous, lording or refractory Spirit,

Hinder all Schifms and Scandals;

Put far from thy People all Deceivers ;

Bring back all that have erred, and are deceived;

Grant Love and Unity to all our Congregations;

Give thy Witneffes conftant Victory against the Enemies of thy Perfon, Crofs and Wounds;

Let us be fubfervient to the fulfilling of thy Teftament among Souls:

Hear us, O dear Lord and God! Thou in whom the Gentiles fbali truft,

Watch over thy Witneffes both by Land and Sea;

Speak, that Spirit and Fire may rest upon their Teftimony concerning thy
Blood;

Vifit all Heathens, even as the Negroes and Savages;
Might thy Blood once begin to work upon the Turks,
O that Ifmael might live before thee !

(Gen. xvii. 18, 20.)
Hear us, O dear Lord and God!

Chor. Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles: and laud him, all ye

People. Amen!

Deliver the ten Tribes of Ifrael from their Blindness and Eftrangement;
Bring us acquainted with their fealed ones;

Bring in the Tribe of Judah in its Time, and bless its Firft fruits among us, until the Fulnefs of the Gentiles be come in, and fo all Irael be faved; Hear us, O dear Lord and God!

Chor. Now, Lord, thy Time thou know'ft:

We should to th' uttermoft
For Orders e'er fo speedy

Be only waiting ready,

And in Heart's Inclination

Meet thy Realm's Revelation.

Give to thy People Tents to dwell in, and Houfe-tops to preach thy Gospel;

Rule and lead thy holy Chriftian Church,

And fet her to thy Praise on Earth;

Keep all Bishops. Priests and Deacons in Soundness of Doctrine and Holinefs of Life:

Blefs and protect the dear Nurfing Fathers and Nurfing-Mothers of our Church, together with their Minifters ;

Watch graciously over all Princes, and hear our Interceffions for them all; Guide and protect the dear Governors of the Lands wherein we dwell, and all that are put in Authority under them; *

And let us lead under them a quiet and peaceable Life in all Godliness and Honesty!

Chor.

May they in th' eternal Age,

'Mongft our Tents be placed.

We befeech thee especially to pour down thy Bleffings in a plentiful Manner upon our gracious Sovereign King GEORGE the Second, and upon all the Royal Family;

Grant that he may enjoy a long and happy Reign over us, and that there may never be wanting one defcended from him to fit upon his Throne, and to preferve thy true Religion in these Nations;

Teach us to fubmit ourselves to every Ordinance of Man for thy Sake, And to feek the Peace of the City where we dwell;

Bless the Land of our fojourning;

Let its Earth be like a Field which the Lord hath blessed;

Give Peace, Health and Profperity, O God, to thy Land, and to all Or ders of Men therein;

They that go down to the Sea in Ships, they fee thy Wonders!

Blefs our little Arks;

Hear us, O dear Lord and God!

Take also the Need of the Church upon thyself;

Blefs our Table-service;

Grant our Providers a Conduct unexceptionable before God and Meri;

Hear us, O dear Lord and God!

Chor. So I'll ftretch out my Hand,
And do that Work with pleasure,
Which in my Branch and Measure
My God for me to do ordain'd.

O that we might never fee a neceffitous Perfon go unrelieved!
O that none of us might eat his Morfel alone;

O that we might fee none fuffer for want of Cloathing;

O that we might be Eyes to the blind, and Feet to the lame;

O that we could refresh the Heart of the Fatherless ;

O that we could mitigate the Burden of the labburing Man, and be ourfelves not miniftred unto, but minifter!

Feed us with that princely Repaft of folacing others;

O that the Bleffing of him who was ready to perish, might come upon us ! Yea, may our Heart rejoice to fee it go well with our Enemies ;

Thou knoweft, Lord, what Spirit we

are of. [Luke ix. 55.

Thou Lover of Men,

Send Help to all that are in any Diftrefs, or Danger;

Set at Liberty fuch as are unjustly imprisoned,

Let all those who are imprifon'd for the Word of God, live by that Word which kept thee in the Defart;

Comfort and help all the weak hearted and afflicted;

Make the Bed of the Sick, and fhew that thou lovest them;

And when thou takeft away Men's Breath, that they die, then remember that thou haft not died for our Sins only!

Chor. Thy Blood, that noble Juice,

Doth fuch a Strength diffufe,

That

That one Drop, tho' so small,
Can make clean the World all;
Yea, from the Fiend deliver

Ten thousand Worlds for ever.

Thou Saviour of thy Body!

Order thy Congregation, thou God of Order;

And walk amidft her Candlesticks with Complacence

Govern them all gently, and according to their Measure ;
Make the Spirits of the Prophets to be subject to the Prophets,

And each of us, one to the other;

Sprinkle all those who minifter in the Sanctuary!

Be the Sanctification of all the Choirs, thro' the maternal Care of the Holy Ghost, who abideth with us;

Blefs thy Gift, the Children;

Vifit them even in the Mother's Womb;

If they have but thee, they lofe nothing tho' they should never fee this World, for they all live unto thee!

But if they muft carry about and groan in this Tabernacle, then bury them with thee in Baptifm unto Death;

Perfect Praise out of the Mouths of Sucklings;

Through the Merit of thy Covenant, circumcife the Hearts of our Boys; And that Mouth, which fucked the Breafts of the Virgin, speak the Girls

clean;

Thy holy Celibacy make the fingle Brethren happy in that State;

Let the Bands of Virgins go in the Odour of thy Bridegroom-Name;

May Faith in the Marriage of the Lamb, be a Girdle to the Reins of the espoused Virgins;

Call their Chamberlains † thy efpoused ones, and this will be a Girdle to

their Loins;

Let all bodily Fathers be confecrated with the Bleffing of Him who is the Father of Spirits;

And all who bear Children, with that of the Mother of us all;

Let our Marriage be honourable among all Men, and our Bed undefiled;
Regulate and keep in Order the matrimonial Concerns,

The Fidelity and Subjection of the Wives, as unto the Lord,
The Benevolence of the Husbands, as unto the Church;
Yet let no Warrior entangle himself with Affairs of this Life,
Nor the Creature be rank'd with the Creator.

Chor.

Now the thro'-pierced Hands Pain fo fore
Blefs this State evermore;

With the Cross-Climate's Peace

This and all Choirs bless.

Be the gracious Reward of the Widowers,
And the nearest Hope of the Widows.
