one another. For all the Law is fulfilled in one Word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy Neighbour as thy felf. The Fruit of the Spirit is 5 love.- Gal. 6. 2. Bear ye one a nothers Burdens, and fo fulfil the Law of Christ. † Eph. 5. 2. Walk in love, as Christ alfo hath loved นร.- Phil. I. 9. This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in Knowledge, and in all Judgment. Col. 2. 2. That their Hearts may be comforted, being knit together in Love. Col. 3. 14. (1) We may hence learn, that all Pretenfions to love God, if we refuse to obey him, are vain and of no Account. We may farther learn, that the Motive which fhould influence us to obey God, and to perform every Duty and Part of Religion fhould be Love. The firft Beginnings of Converfion may probably arife from fear of Punishment, but we must not stop here; for the great Principle we fhould be governed by, and which will make our Obedience eafie and delightful, is Love, not a flavish Fear. A Servant performs the fame Actions and Commands which a Child does, but they are not fo acceptable and pleafing; because the former acts
