* Do not exercise thyself in great matters, or in things too high for thee.

"That the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; for wisdom is profitable to direct.

• The simple believeth every word; but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

5 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee.

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself.

' Wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence; but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

The way of life is above to the wise; that he may depart from hell beneath.

Thy word, O Lord, is a lamp unto my feet, and a light upon my path; the entrance of thy words giveth light.

10 Fools make a mock at sin; but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.

The foolishness of man perverteth his way, and his heart fretteth against the Lord.

12 He that refuseth instruction, despiseth his own soul; but he is in the way of life that keepeth instruction.

1 He that believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God, is condemned already. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.

Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. For whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

The children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. But the wisdom of this world cometh to nought.

They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. Lo! they have rejected the word of the Lord; and what wisdom is in them?

Take heed unto thyself, and unto thy Meditation. doctrine; continue in them; meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear unto all.

Consider thy ways; ponder the path of thy feet; and let thy ways be established.

We ought to give earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

• Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth; while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.

Know this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God. Stand still, and regard the wondrous works of God, and the operations of his hands; and wisely consider of his doing.

Look unto the heavens, and see and behold the clouds, which are higher than thou. Lift up thine eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things.

3 Remember the marvellous works which the Lord hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; meditate also on all his works, and talk of his doing.

* Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes. Consider in thine heart that he remembers all thy wickedness.

Take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently; lest thou forget the covenant of the Lord thy God; and lest it depart from thy heart all the days of thy life.

6 The book of the law which the Lord hath given thee shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night; that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written. therein.

'Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto, according to the Word of God.

O that men were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end, and not put far away the evil day!

' If a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.

We are all the children of light, and the children of the day. We are not of the

night nor of darkness; therefore let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober.

See that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise; redeeming the time because the days are evil.

2 Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour.

› Put on the whole armour of God; that ye may able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

* Take care lest by any means as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain that are ready to die.

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

'Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips; for I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

Take heed lest when you have heard the word, the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it become unfruitful.

9 Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation; for blessed are those servants whom the Lord when he cometh shall find watching.

I am a companion of all them that fear thee, O Lord, and of them that keep thy precepts.
