all drivers, conductors, and other persons having charge of or using such cars, as the local authority is for the time being entitled to make, enforce, and grant with respect to passenger vehicles generally:

Provided that the annual license fee to be charged in respect of each car, driver, or conductor shall not exceed one shilling.

4. Section forty-six of the principal Act is hereby repealed, and the following shall be inserted in place thereof:

46. The local authority and the promoters of any tramway may, from time to time, enter into agreements for the payment by the promoters to the local authority of a composition in lieu of rates in respect of the user of roads, and in respect of all lands, buildings, or works used by the promoters for tramway purposes exclusively.

E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council

and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the Metropolitan Water Works Short title, and inAmendment Act, 1904, and shall be read as one with the Metro- corporation with 60 politan Water Works Act, 1896, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

E, Your Majesty's Most Dutiful and Loyal Subjects, the Preamble. Members of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in Parliament assembled, towards making good the supply which we have cheerfully granted to Your Majesty in this Session of Parliament, have resolved to grant unto Your Majesty the sum hereinafter mentioned; and do, therefore, most humbly beseech Your Majesty that it may be enacted: And be it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and

consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. There shall and may be issued and applied for or towards making good the supply granted to His Majesty for the Service of the year from 1st July, 1904, to 30th June, 1905, the sum of Two hundred and fifty thousand Pounds out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund; and the Treasurer of Western Australia is hereby authorised and empowered to issue and apply the moneys authorised to be issued and applied.

2. The said sums shall be available to satisfy the warrants purposes voted by under the hand of the Governor, under the provisions of the law now in force, in respect of any Services voted by the Legislative Assembly during the financial year ending 30th June, 1905.
