Channel is well buoyed. Wreck of the Moresby in the middle of the channel shown by bright light. Ships land cargoes to quay or carts.

Flashing white light at W. side of harb. entrance, which can be seen from the Minch, and forms a leading light until the ship comes abreast. Shows a red disc to the W. to clear shoals on that side. Red Buoy E of rock at entrance. The pier shows a red light on N. (or outer) corner of pier head, and a white light on S. end, placed 16ft inwards from line of pier head. THW. f. and c. 6h 7m.
