To Agents, we offer the same liberal inducements we have previously offered, viz: Ten per cent. premium for all packages of Journals sent to one address. To any Lady who will procure ten Subscribers outside of our Membership, a nicely bound volume of "THE JOURNAL" for 1875.

To any person who will procure 100 Subscribers outside of our Membership, a nice Elgin Watch, worth 35 dollars. We will continue to receive a limited amount of advertisements, and we claim that no Magazine of double its circulation affords so many advantages to those having R. R. Improvements or R. R. Owners of the Patent for Injector issued to James Millholland, dated June 10, 1862,

THE OLDEST PATENT OF INJECTOR NOW IN EXISTENCE,

Have commenced suit against NATHAN & DREYFUS, of New York, makers of the FRIEDMANN Injector, and the NATIONAL TUBE WORKS COMPANY, of Boston, Mass., makers of the "MACK" Injector; ELIASHIB TRACY, et al., of Philadelphia, Pa., makers of the "KEYSTONE" Injector, for infringing on the rights secured to them by this Patent and other Patents granted to Samuel Rue.

And they hereby caution and warn all makers, users and sellers of Injectors against making, buying, selling or using said Injectors.

We shall also prosecute the manufacturers, sellers and users of the

'Hancock,' 'Little,' 'Newell,' 'Randall' and 'Messenger'

Injectors, and any others who may thus infringe.

RUE MANUFACTURING CO.,

523 Cherry St., Philadelphia, Pa.

TO OUR FRIENDS AND CUSTOMERS.

We being the sole owners and exclusive Licensees of the following patents: James Millholland, June 0, 1862; Samuel Rue et al., January 28, 1868; Samuel Rue et al., September 1, 1868, re-issued August 11, 1874; Samuel Rue, April 22, 1873; two patents Samuel Rue, December 30, 1873; Samuel Rue, April 18, 1876; have been careful to make our Injector, the "LITTLE GIANT," as reliable as possible, to have every part of it fully secured to us by Letters Patent, and not to infringe on any one.

One month ago we were surprised by receiving notice from William L. Chase, our very efficient and attentive agent in New York, that Nathan & Dreyfus, who claim to make the Friedmann Injector, under a patent dated August 7th, 1866, had filed bills in Equity against him (Chase), and one of our customers, the Elevated Railway Co.

As this patent only secures a certain form of jet, which Nathan & Dreyfus do not use in the Friedmann Injector, as they make it, it was at once apparent that the attack was purely for business effect, and we propose to meet the issue at law, as they have offered it, and protect our customers and ourselves.

These proceedings caused us to examine into the claims of the plaintiffs, and we found that the patent they pretend to attack us under, does not cover the Injector they make and offer for sale, but that the Injector they sell to their customers is, beyond all dispute, pirated from the Millholland patent of 1862, and these parties, to cover the piracy, put on a different external cover.

We have the oldest Injector Patent in the United States, that of James Millholland, dated June 10, 1862, assigned to us by assignment recorded at Washington, in Book B. 20, page 373, &c., and we are determined to sustain it, and to prevent further attacks on our customers, and to stop the sale of Injectors purporting to be patented, which are only infringements on our patents and violating rights secured

to us.

Having thus been led to examine the "Friedmann," we also looked into the other Injectors offered for sale in the market, and find they are all of them infringing on us; pirating and using the Rue & Millholland patents with the thinnest covering and boldest effrontery.

We have therefore commenced suit against the makers of "Friedmann's," "Mack," "Keystone," "Newell," and we will continue to bring suits against other infringers, until we have settled the rights of all the claims held by us, and you may be able to know that you are free from annoyances by conflicting

interests.

If any proceedings are commenced against you or threats made, please let us know at once; we will defend all cases at our own cost. And in testimony of our intention to prosecute all parties infringing upon us to final judgment, and restrain them from violating our right to the sole use and benefit of the patents we hold, we give the following certificates of the suits now commenced for infringements, and we will give further notice of other suits, and the results of these actions, to our customers.

Respectfully,

RUE MANUFACTURING CO.,

523 Cherry Street, Philadelphia, Pa.

[This suit is brought against the makers of the Friedmann Injector, to restrain them from infringing upon the Millholland and Rue Patents.]
