thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen. (Collect for Ascension Day-Holy Thursday.)

On FRIDAY and during PASSION WEEK one of the following Collects shall be here used.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who, of thy tender love towards mankind, hast sent thy Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ, to take upon him our flesh, and to suffer death upon the cross, that all mankind should follow the example of his great humility; mercifully grant that we may both follow the example of his patience, and also be made partakers of his resurrection; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Collect for Sunday before Easter.)

or,

ALMIGHTY God, who of thy great love to man didst give thy dearly beloved Son to die for us upon the cross as on this day; Grant that we, taking up our cross daily and following him, may so die unto sin that the world may be crucified unto us, and we unto the world; for his sake, who with thee and the Holy Ghost, now liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

On SATURDAY the following Collect shall be here used.

GRANT, O Lord, that as we are baptized into the death of thy blessed Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, so by continual mortifying our corrupt affections we may be buried with him; and that through the grave, and gate of death, we may pass to our joyful resurrection; for his merits, who died, and was buried, and rose again for us, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Collect for Easter Even.)

Then shall follow, when required, THE OCCASIONAL PRAYERS, namely,

That for the EMBER WEEKS. That for the Season of ADVENT or of LENT. That for one SICK.

And any

other prayer there may be cause to add.

Then shall be read one of the following

INTERCESSIONS.

Morning.

BE pleased, O Lord, to hear our humble intercessions for all mankind. We pray especially for thy Universal Church, beseeching thee to inspire

it continually with the spirit of truth, unity, and concord. And herein we pray thee to bless our rulers, both spiritual and temporal. We pray also for all the Clergy, especially for him, (or those, if there be more than one,) whom thou hast set over this parish. Send down upon them the healthful spirit of thy grace. Bless this family and household; and grant to each of us grace faithfully and cheerfully to fulfil those duties which thou hast given us to do, both this day and evermore; may we each of us be content with the place and lot thy Providence has in wisdom assigned to us, and endeavour earnestly so to live as remembering that thine eye is upon us, and that we shall one day give account for all we do. Give to us, and to all our relations and friends, such blessings as thou shalt see to be best for us; and, above all, grant us grace so to pass through things temporal, that we finally lose not the things eternal, through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Ebening.

O HEAVENLY Father, look down in mercy upon all thy people. Bless thy Universal Church. Enlarge its boundaries, and give it the spirit of unity, truth, and holiness. Bless this family and household, that each in his several place

may serve thee faithfully, and that we may live together in love and kindness one to another. We praise thee, O Lord, for all thy mercies vouchsafed to us, both this day and during our past lives. Make us to be more grateful to thee for them, and to trust more entirely in thy goodness to us. Keep us, and all our relations and friends, under thy Fatherly protection this night and evermore. May we go to rest at peace with thee; and so live day by day that we may be ready, when the time shall come, to lie down in that sleep from which we pray to rise to eternal glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

or,

O GOD, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee for all sorts and conditions of men; that thou wouldest be pleased to make thy ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More especially we pray for the good estate of the Catholic Church; that it may be so guided and governed by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. Finally, we commend to thy Fatherly goodness all those, who are any ways afflicted or distressed,

in mind, body, or estate; (*especially him [or

Amen. (General Intercession.) or this,

Which shall be used on FRIDAY.

ALMIGHTY God, we beseech thee graciously to behold this thy family, for which our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given up into the hands of wicked men, and to suffer death upon the cross, who now liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (1st Collect for Good Friday.)

Then shall follow

THE GENERAL THANKSGIVING.

ALMIGHTY God, Father of all mercies, we thine unworthy servants do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving kindness to us and to all men. We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all,
