Their land upon his chosen race For which his fame shall always last, 4 For God shall soon his people's cause 15 Those idols whose false worship spreads Are made of silver and of gold, 16, 17 They move not their fictitious tongues Nor see with polish'd eyes ; Their counterfeited ears are deaf, 18 As senseless as themselves are they To make them, or in dangerous times 19 Their just returns of thanks to God Nor let the priests of Aaron's race 20 Their sense of his unbounded love And let all those who fear the Lord,. 21 Let all with thanks his wondrous works Let them in Salem, where he dwells, PSALM CXXXVI TO God the mighty Lord His boundless love 2, 3 To him whose wondrous power 4,5 By his Almighty hand Amazing works are wrought; 6 He spread the ocean round 7, 8, 9 Through heav'n he did display The sun to rule by day, The moon and stars by night: 10, 11, 12 He struck the first-born dead Of Egypt's stubborn land; And thence his people led 13, 14 By him the raging sea, Through which his people went a 15 Where soon he overthrew Proud Pharaoh and his host, Who, daring to pursue, Were in the billows lost : For God, &c. |
