Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.

Antiphon. I believe verily to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

W. Lord, give thy people eternal rest: B. And let thine everlasting light shine upon them.

Then in a low voice shall be said,

UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us.

W. And lead us not into temptation:
R. But deliver us from evil.

THE FIRST LESSON. Job x. 8.

HINE hands have made me, and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me. Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again? Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese? Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews. Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.

B. I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God. V. Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another.

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.

THE SECOND LESSON. S. John v. 24.

VE

ERILY, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; and hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of Man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good unto the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation.

R. Brethren, I would not have you to be ignorant concerning them which are asleep; That ye sorrow not even as others which have no hope.

V. For if we believe that Jesus died and

rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

That ye sorrow not even as others which

have no hope.

THE THIRD LESSON. 1 Cor. xv. 51.

EHOLD, I show you a mystery: we

BEHO

shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, (for the trumpet shall sound,) and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality; then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

B. O Death, where is thy sting? O Grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.

W. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.

O Death, where is thy sting?

O Grave,

where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.

¶ Then shall be said or sung the Psalm Miserere, as follows, all kneeling.

HAV

PSALM LI. Miserere mei, Deus.

AVE mercy upon me, O God, after thy great goodness: according to the multitude of thy mercies do away mine offences. Wash me throughly from my wickedness: and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my faults: and my sin is ever before me.

Against thee only have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified in thy saying, and clear when thou art judged.

Behold, I was shapen in wickedness: and in sin hath my mother conceived me.

But lo, thou requirest truth in the inward. parts and shalt make me to understand wisdom secretly.

Thou shalt purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Thou shalt make me hear of joy and gladness that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

:

Turn thy face from my sins and put out all my misdeeds.

Make me a clean heart, O God new a right spirit within me.

:

and re

Cast me not away from thy presence: and take not thy holy Spirit from me.

O give me the comfort of thy help again: and stablish me with thy free Spirit.

Then shall I teach thy ways unto the wicked and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, thou that art the God of my health and my tongue shall sing of thy righteousness.

Thou shalt open my lips, O Lord and my mouth shall show thy praise.

For thou desirest no sacrifice, else would I give it thee but thou delightest not in burnt-offerings.

:

The sacrifice of God is a troubled spirit: a broken and contrite heart, O God, shalt thou not despise.

O be favourable and gracious unto Sion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, with the burnt-offerings and oblations: then shall they offer young bullocks upon thine altar.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is ever shall be: world without end.

OUR FATHER.

now, and Amen.

Lauds of the Dirge.

O God, make speed to save us ;
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever

shall be world without end. :

Amen.
