GENESIS xi. 9.

Therefore the name of it is called Babel; because

the Lord did there confound the language of

all the earth: and from thence did the Lord

scatter them abroad upon the face of all the

earth.

The Call of Abraham.

GENESIS xii. 1-3.

Now the Lord had said unto Abraham, Get thee

out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and

from thy father's house, unto a land that I will

shew thee: and I will make of thee a great

nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy

name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and

I will bless them that bless thee, and curse

him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all

the families of the earth be blessed.

The Character of Abraham.

GENESIS xii. 7.

And the Lord appeared unto Abraham, and said,

Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there

builded he an altar unto the Lord, who ap-
