4 He hath faid, which heard the WORDS of GOD, which faw the Vifion of the Almighty, falling into a TRANCE, but having his Eyes open :

5 How goodly are thy Tents, O Jacob, and thy Tabernacles, O Ifrael!

6 As the Valleys are they spread forth, as Gardens by the River-fide, as the Trees of Lign-Aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as Cedar-trees befide the Waters.

7 He fhall pour the Water out of his Buckets, and his Seed fhall be in many Waters, and his King fhall be higher than Agag, and his Kingdom fhall be exalted.

8 GOD brought him forth out of Egypt, he hath as it were the Strength of an Unicorn: he fhall eat up the Nations his Enemies, and fhall break their Bones, and pierce them through with his Arrows.

9 He couched, he lay down as a Lion, and as a great Lion, who fhall ftir him up? Bleffed is he that blefleth thee, and curfed is he that curfeth thee.

10 And Balak's Anger was kindled againft Balaam, and he fmote his Hands together and Balak faid unto Balaam, I called thee to curfe mine Enemies, and behold, thou haft altogether bleffed them thefe three Times.

II Therefore now flee thou to thy Place: I thought to promote thee unto great Honour, but lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from Honour'

12 And Balaam faid unto Balak, Spake I not alfo to thy Meffengers, which thou fenteft unto me, faying,

13 If Balak would give me his Houfe full of Silver and Gold, I cannot go beyond the Commandment of the LORD, to do either Good or Bad of mine own Mind; but what the LORD faith, that will I fpeak?

14 And now, behold, I go unto my People: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this People fhall do to thy People in the latter Days.

15 And he took up his Parable, and faid, Balaam the Son of Beor hath faid, and the Man whofe Eyes are open, hath faid :

16 He hath faid, which heard the WORDS of GOD, and KNEW the KNOWLEDGE of the MOST HIGH, which faw the VISION of the ALMIGHTY, falling into a TRANCE, but having his Eyes open :

18 And Edom shall be a Poffeffion, Seir alfo fhall be a Poffeffion for his Enemies, and Ifrael fhall do valiantly.

2 Saying, Where is he that is BORN KING of the Jews? for we have seen his STAR in the EAST, and are come to WORSHIP HIM.

9 And lo, the STAR which they faw in the EAST, went before them, till it came and food over where the young Child was.

To When they faw the STAR, they rejoyced with exceeding great Joy.

19 Out of Jacob fhall come he that fhall have Dominion, and fhall destroy him that remaineth of the City.

zo And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his Parable, and faid, Amalek was the first of the Nations, but his latter End fhall be that he perifh for ever.

21 And he looked on the Kenites; and took up his Parable, and faid, Strong is thy Dwelling-place, and thou putteft thy Neft in a Rock.

22 Nevertheless, the Kenite fhall be wafted, until Afhur fhall carry thee away Captive.

23 And he took up his Parable, and faid, Alas, who shall live when GOD doth this!

24 And Ships fhall come from the Coaft of Chittim, and fhall afflict Afhur, and fhall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.

25 And Balaam rofe up and went and returned to his Flace and Balak alfo went his way.

29 Thus they provoked him to Anger with their INVENTIONS: and the Plague brake in upon them.

3 And Ifrael joined himself unto Baal-peor; and the Anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.

4 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Take all the Heads of the People, and hang them up before the LORD against the Sun, that the fierce Anger of the LORD may be turned away from Ifrael.

5 And Mofes faid unto the Judges of Ifrael, Slay ye every one his Men, that were joined unto Baal-peor.

6 And behold, one of the Children of Ifrael came, and brought unto his Brethren a Midianitish Woman, in the Sight of Mofes, and in the Sight of all the Congregation of st the Children of Ifrael, who were weeping before the Door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation.

he rofe up from amongst the Congregation, and took a Javelin in his Hand.

8 And he went after the Man of Ifrael into the Tent, and thrust both of them through, the Man of Ifrael, and the Woman through her Belly: So the Plague was stayed from the Children of Ifrael.

9 And thofe that died in the Plague, were twenty and four thousand,

10 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, faying,

11 Phinehas the Son of Eleazar, the Son of Aaron the Prieft, hath turned my Wrath away from the Children of Ifrael (while he was zealous for my Sake among them) that I confumed not the Children of Ifrael in my Jealousy.

12 Wherefore fay, Behold, I give unto him my Covenant of Peace.

13 And he shall have it, and his Seed after him, even the Covenant of an everlasting Priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an Atonement for the Children of Ifrael.

14 Now the Name of the Ifraelite that was flain, even that was flain with the Midianitifh Woman, was Zimri the Son of Salu, a Prince of a chief Houfe among the Simeonites.

15 And the Name of the Midianitifh Woman that was

16 And the LORD fpake untó Moses, saying,

17 Vex the Midianites, and fmite them.

18 For they vex you with their Wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the Matter of Peor, and in the Matter of Cozbi, the Daughter of a Prince of Midian their Sifter, which was flain in the Day of the Plague for Peor's Sake.
