towards this Place, and CONFESS thy Name, and TURN from their SIN, when thou afflicteft them.

36 Then HEAR thou in Heaven, and FORGIVE the SIN of thy Servants, and of the People of Ifrael, that thou teach them the GOOD WAY wherein they fhould WALK, and give RAIN upon thy Land which thou hast given to thy People for an Inheritance.

37 If there be in the Land Famine, if there be Peftilence, Blafting, Mildew, Locuft, or if there be Caterpillers; if their Enemy befiege them in the Land of their Cities, whatsoever Plague, whatfoever Sicknefs there be;

38 What PRAYER and SUPPLICATION foever be made by any Man, or by all thy People Ifrael, which fhall know every Man the PLAGUE of his own HEART, and fpread forth his Hands towards this Houfe:

39 Then hear thou in Heaven thy Dwelling-place, and FORGIVE, and do and give to every Man according to his Ways, whofe Heart thou knoweft; (for thou, even thou only KNOWEST the HEARTS of all the Children of Men)

40 That they may FEAR thee all the Days that they live, in the Land which thou gavest unto our Fathers.

41 Moreover, concerning a Stranger that is not of thy People Ifrael, but cometh out of a far Countrey, for thy Name's fake.

42 (For they fhall hear of thy great Name, and of thy ftrong Hand, and of thy ftretched-out Arm) when he shall come and pray towards this House:

43 Hear thou in Heaven thy Dwelling-place, and do according to all that the Stranger calleth to thee for: that all People of the Earth may KNOW thy NAME, to FEAR thee, as do thy People Ifrael, and that they may know that this. Houfe which I have builded, is called by thy Name.

44 If thy People go out to Battle against their Enemy, whitherfoever thou fhalt fend them, and fhall pray unto the LORD toward the City which thou haft chofen, and toward the House that I have built for thy Name:

45 Then hear thou in Heaven their Prayer and their Supplication, and maintain their Caufe.

46 If they fin against thee, (for there is no Man that finneth not) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the Enemy, fo that they carry them away Captives, unto the Land of the Enemy, far or near;

47 Yet if they fhall bethink themfelves in the Land whi

ther they were carried Captives, and REPENT, and make Supplication unto thee in the Land of them that carried them Captives, faying, We have finned, and have done perversely, we have committed Wickedness;

48 And fo return unto thee with all their HEART, and with all their SOUL, in the Land of their Enemies which led them away Captive, and PRAY unto thee toward their Land, which thou gaveft unto their Fathers, the City which thou haft chofen, and the Houfe which I have built for thy Namę.

49 Then hear thou their Prayer and their Supplication in Heaven thy Dwelling-place, and maintain their Cause.

50 And forgive thy People that have finned against thee, and all their Tranfgreffions wherein they have tranfgreffed against thee, and give them Compaffion before them who carried them Captive, that they may have Compaffion on them :

51 For they be thy People and thine Inheritance, which thou broughteft forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the Furnace of Iron:

52 That thine Eyes may be open unto the SUPPLIÇATION of thy Servant, and unto the Supplication of thy People Ifrael, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee.

53 For thou didst feparate them from among all the People of the Earth, to be thine Inheritance, as thou spakeft by the Hand of Mofes thy Servant, when thou broughteft our Fathers out of Egypt, O LORD GOD.

54 And it was fo, that when SOLOMON had made an end of praying all this Prayer and Supplication unto the LORD, he arofe before the Altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his Knees, with his Hands fpread up to Heaven.

55 And he stood and blefied all the Congregation of Ifrael with a loud Voice, faying,

56 Bleffed be the LORD, that hath given REST unto his People Ifrael, according to all that he promised: there hath not FAILED ONE WORD of all his good PROMISE, which he promised by the Hand of Mofes his Servant.

57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our Fathers let him not leave us, nor forfake us:

58 That he may incline our Hearts unto him, to walk in all his Ways, and to keep his Commandments, and his Statutes, and his Judgments, which he commanded our Fa thers.

59 And

59 And let thefe my Words, wherewith I have made Supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our GOD Day and Night, that he maintain the Cause of his Servant, and the Cause of his People Ifrael at all Times, as the Matter shall require:

60 That all the People of the Earth may know that the LORD is GOD, and that there is none else.

61 Let your HEART therefore be PERFECT with the LORD your God, to walk in his Statutes, and to keep his Commandments, as at this Day.

62 And the King and all Ifrael with him, offered Sacrifice before the LORD.

63 And Solomon offered a Sacrifice of Peace-offerings, which he offered unto the LORD, two and twenty thousand Oxen, and an hundred and twenty thoufand Sheep So the King and all the Children of Ifrael dedicated the House of the LORD.

II. CHRON. CHAP. VII.

1 GOD giving Testimony to Solomon's Prayer, the People worShip him. 4 Solomon's Sacrifice. 12 Bleffings promifed.

Ver. 1 No the

W when Solomon had made an end of praying, the FIRE came down from HEAVEN, and CONSUMED the Burnt-offering and the Sacrifices; and the GLORY of the LORD FILLED the HOUSE.

2° And the Priests could not enter into the House of the LORD, because the GLORY of the LORD had FILLED the LORD'S HOUSE.

• Rev. xv. 8 And the TEMPLE was FILLED with SMOKE from the GLORY of GoD, and from his PoWER; and no Man was able to enter into the TEMPLE.

1 Tim. vi. Is Who is the bleffed and only POTENTATE, the KING of Kings, and LORD of Lords;

16 Who only hath Immortality, dwelling in the LIGHT which no Man can approach unto, whom no Man hath seen, nor can fee.

3 P And when all the Children of Ifrael faw how the FIRE came down, and the GLORY of the LORD upon the House, they BOWED themselves with their Faces to the Ground upon the Payement, and WORSHIPPED, and PRAISED the LORD,

P Pfal. cxxxvi. 1 O give THANKS unto the LORD, for he is Goou, for his

MERCY ENDURETH for EVER.

4 To him who alone doth great Wonders: for his Mercy endureth for

ever.

5 To him that by Wisdom made the Heavens: for his Mercy endureth for ever.

6 To him that ftretched out the

Earth above the Waters: for his Mercy endureth for ever. faying,

faying, For he is GOOD, for his MERCY ENDURETH for

EVER.

4 Then the King and all the People offered Sacrifices before the LORD.

5 And King Solomon offered a Sacrifice of twenty and two thousand Oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand Sheep fo the King and all the People dedicated the Houfe of GOD.

6 And the Priefts waited on their Offices: the Levites alfo with Inftruments of Mufick of the LORD, which David the King had made to praife the LORD, because his Mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their Miniftry and the Priests founded Trumpets before them, and all Ifrael ftood.

7 Moreover, Solomon hallowed the Middle of the Court that was before the House of the LORD: for there he offered Burnt-offerings, and the Fat of the Peace-offerings, becaufe the brafen Altar which Solomon had made, was not able to receive the Burnt-offerings, and the Meat-offerings, and the Fat.

8 Alfo at the fame Time Solomon kept the Feaft feven Days, and all Ifrael with him, a very great Congregation, from the entring in of Hamath, unto the River of Egypt.

9 And in the eighth Day they made a folemn Affembly: for they kept the Dedication of the Altar seven Days, and the Feaft feven Days.

10 And on the three and twentieth Day of the feventh Month, he fent the People away into their Tents, glad and merry in heart for the Goodness that the LORD had fhewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Ifrael his People.

11 Thus Solomon finished the Houfe of the LORD, and the King's Houfe: and all that came into Solomon's Heart to make in the House of the LORD, and in his own Houfe, he readily effected.

12 And the LORD appeared to Solomon by Night, and faid unto him, I have HEARD thy PRAYER, and have chofen this Place to myfelf for an Houfe of Sacrifice.

13 If I fhut up Heaven that there be no RAIN, or if I command the LOCUSTS to devour the Land, or if I fend PESTILENCE among my People;

14 If my People which are called by my Name, fhall HUMBLE themfelves, and PRAY, and SEEK my FACE, and turn from their WICKED Ways: then will I HEAR from

Heaven,

Heaven, and will FORGIVE their Sin, and will heal their Land.

15 Now mine EYES fhall be open, and mine Ears attent unto the Prayer that is made in this Place.

16 For now have I chosen and fanctified this House, that my Name may be there for ever: and mine Eyes and mine Heart fhall be there perpetually.

17 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy Father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and fhalt obferve my Statutes and my Judgments:

18 Then will I stablish the Throne of thy Kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy Father, faying, There fhall not FAIL thee a MAN to be RULER in Ifrael.

199 But if ye turn away and FORSAKE my STATUTES and my COMMANDMENTS which I have fet before you, and fhall go and ferve other Gods, and worship them:

20 Then will I pluck them up by the Roots out of my Land which I have given them; and this Houfe which I have fanctified for my Name, will I caft out of my fight, and will make it to be a PROVERB, and a BY-WORD among all Nations.

Deut. xxviii. 15 But it fhall come to pafs, if thou wilt not hearken unto the Voice of the LORD thy God, to obferve to do all his COMMANDMENTS and his Statutes which I com

mand you this Day, that all thefe Curfes fhall come upon thee, and

overtake thee.

36 The LORD fhall bring thee and thee, unto a Nation which neither thy King which thou shalt fet over thou, nor thy Fathers have known ; and there fhalt thou ferve other Gods, Wood and Stone.

37 And thou shalt become an A ftonishment, a PROVERB, and a ByWORD, among all Nations, whither the

LORD fhall lead thee.

21 And this Houfe which is HIGH, fhall be an AsToNISHMENT to every one that paffeth by it; fo that he fhall fay, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this Land, and unto this House?

22 And it fhall be anfwered, Because they forfook the LORD GOD of their Fathers, which brought them forth out of the Land of Egypt, and laid hold on other Gods, and worshipped them, and ferved them: therefore hath he brought all this Evil upon them.
