Is. 57. 1. The righteous is taken away from the evil to come. He shall enter into peace.

Rev. 14. 13. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors: and their works do follow them.

141. Will the righteous be supported in death ?

Ps. 23. 4. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Pr. 14. 32. The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

1 Cor. 15. 54. Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

142. Is death undesirable to the wicked ?

Job 27. 19. The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered; he openeth his eyes, and he is not. Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night. The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place. For God shall cast upon him and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.

Pr. 11. 7. When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

Pr. 14. 32. The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous haih hope in his death.

Is. 14. 9. Hell from beneath is moved for thee, to meet thee at thy coming.

Lk. 16. 22. The rich man also died, and was buried, and in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments.

Heb. 10. 31. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

143. Are we warned and exhorted to be prepared for death? Dt. 32. 29. Oh that they were wise, that they

144. Is living in view of death and eternity exemplified ?

2 Cor. 4. 18. We look not at the things which are seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Ph. 3. 20. Our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour.

Heb. 11. 13. These [Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham,] all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.- 16. That is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. Death and Resurrection. 145. Will there be a general resurrection of the dead ? Job 14. 14. If a man die, shall he live again?

General resurrection.

Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee; thou wilt have a desire to the work of thy hands.

Job 19. 26. And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.

Hos. 13. 14. I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues, O grave, I will be thy destruction.

Mat. 22. 30. In the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Lk. 20. 37. Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living. Mat. 22. 31.

Jn. 5. 28. The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
