Pride destined to fall.

Is. 2. 12. The day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low.

Is. 3. 16. Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched. forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.

End of the proud and scornful.

Father which seeth in secret, himself shall reward thee openly. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.

528. What is said of scorners?

Pr. 3. 34. Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Pr. 9. 12. If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it. Pr. 11. 12. He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbor.

Pr. 14. 21. He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he. Pr. 15. 20. A foolish man despiseth his mother. Pr. 19. 29. Judgments are prepared for scorners. Pr. 22. 10. Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea strife and reproach shall cease.

Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains. He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry. 15. He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly. He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoar-frost like ashes. He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold? He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
