On the following day, a number of the inhabitants of Falkirk caused a bonfire to be kindled in the market-place of that town, the bells to be rung, and in the evening assembled, and drank with much pleasure the healths' appropriate to such an occasion, which were the more strikingly interesting, as there has not been an heir born to the estate of Callendar for nearly 180 years, that estate having been forfeited 1745.
