He cast out the heathen | also before them,
And made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their |

tents.

Yet they tempted and provoked the | most high | God, And kept not his | testimonies.

They turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their | fathers;

They were turned aside, | like a deceitful | bow. They mingled among the heathen, and learned. their works,

And they served their idols.

Then he gave them into the hand of their enemies,
And they that hated them | ruled over them.
Nevertheless he regarded their affliction,
When he heard their cry.

Save us, O Lord our God,

And gather us | from a

GIVE ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest. Joseph like a | flock;

How long wilt thou be angry at the prayer of thy ❘ people!

Thou makest us a strife un to our neighbours;

It is burned with fire, it is cut down;

Turn us, O God of our salvation,

And cause thine | anger | towards us to cease.

Wilt thou be angry

with us for | ever?

Wilt thou draw out thine anger to all gene | rations?

Wilt thou not re | vive us again,

That thy people | may rejoice in thee?
Show us thy mercy, O Lord,

And grant us thy salvation.
