Brief, quaint, and racy, these "Gems" will prove eminently suggestive, and serve, we hope, as aids to thought, as so much solid gold, which may be beaten into fine leaf by the Christian worker. One such "Gem" we have before us on "Similitudes in the Scriptures; and as the author's remarks apply to all attempts to illustrate Biblical truth, as well as to the incomparable similes of the divine word, it will serve as an appropriate sentence with which to close our preface:-"As images and pictures are not in all points alike, or correspond to that which they represent, but differ in colours, bigness, or thickness, so the things and similitudes in the Scripture are not in all points alike to that which is likened unto them."
