Par. 108.c.21 PREFACE. WITH the close of another year we issue the eighth volume of the Biblical Treasury. We trust that it has proved of real value to a large number of students of God's word. Our hope is that our readers do not regard it as a mere ephemeral publication, to be laid aside as soon as read, but that, availing themselves of the entire series, they enrich their lessons by frequent reference to its pages. Conscious that the Treasury has defects, like all merely human productions, we yet believe it to be well adapted to the purpose at which it aims, besides being the most portable work of its class. Its serial character, combined with its price, enables those who may not be able to purchase many books to have at hand a cyclopædia of ready reference for Biblical illustration. will be our endeavour to make the work yet more interesting and useful in the future; and, with this end in view, it is our intention to devote the last page of each number to "Gems," chiefly of the nature of similitudes, and selected for the most part from the writings of old It |
