30. Which when the Brethren knew, they brought him down to Cefarea, and fent him forth to Tarfus.

31. Then had the Churches Reft throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria, and were edified, and walking in the Fear of the Lord, and in the COMFORT of the HOLY GHOST, were multiplied.

32. And it came to pafs, as Peter paffed through all Quarters, he came down alfo to the Saints which dwelt at Lydda.

33. And there he found a certain Man named Eneas, which had kept his Bed eight Years, and was fick of the Palfy.

34. And Peter faid unto him, Eneas, Jefus Chrift maketh thee whole: arife, and make thy Bed. And he arofe immediately.

35. And all that dwelt at Lydda, and Saron, saw him, and turned to the Lord.

36. Now there was at Foppa a certain Difciple named Tabitha, which by Interpretation is called Dorcas: This Woman was full of good Works, and Alms-deeds which fhe did.

37. And it came to pafs in thofe Days that fhe was fick, and died: Whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper Chamber.

38. And forafmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the Difciples had heard that Peter was there, they fent unto him two Men, defiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

39. Then Peter arofe, and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper Chamber: And all the Widows ftood by him weeping, and fhewing the Coats and Garments which Dorcas made while fhe was with them.

40. But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down and prayed; and turning him to the Body, faid, Tabitha, ARISE: And he opened her Eyes: and when the faw Peter, fhe fat up.

41. And he gave her his Hand, and lift her up; and when he had called the Saints and Widows, prefented her

alive.

42. And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

43. And it came to pafs, that he tarried many Days in Joppa, with one Simon a Tanner. CHAP.

CHAP. X.

Cornelius, an Officer in the Roman Army, a devout Man, 5. being commanded by an Angel, fendeth for Peter: 11. Who by a Vifion, 15, 20. is taught not to despise the Gentiles. 34. As he preacheth CHRIST to Cornelius and his Company, the Holy Ghoft falleth on them, 48. and they are baptized.

'Here was a certain Man in Cefarea, called Cornelius, a CENTURION of the Band called the Italian Band.

2. A DEVOUT Man, and one that feared God with all his Houfe; which gave much ALMS to the People, and PRAYED to God ALWAY.

3. He faw in a VISION evidently about the ninth Hour of the Day, an Angel of God coming into him, and faying unto him, Cornelius. 4. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he faid unto him, Thy PRAYERS and thine ALMS are come for a MEMORIAL up before God.

5. And now fend Men to Foppa, and call for one Simon, whofe firname is Pe

12. Wherein were all manner of four-footed Beasts of the Earth, and wild Beasts, and creeping Things, and Fowls of the Air.

13. And there came Voice to him, Rife, Peter; kill and eat.

14. But Peter faid, Not fo, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15. And the Voice fpake unto him again the fecond time, What God hath cleanfed, that call not thou com

mon.

16. This was done thrice: and the Veffel was received up again into Heaven.

17. Now

Now while Peter feek, and his REST fhall be giodoubted in himfelf what this Vifion which he had feen fhould mean; behold, the Men which were fent from Cornelius, had made Inquiry for Simon's Houfe, and flood before the Gate, 18. And called, and afked whether Simon which was firnamed Peter, were lodg

ed there.

19. While Peter thought on the Vifion, the SPIRIT faid unto him, Behold, three Men feck thee.

20. Arife therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing for I have fent them.

21. Then Peter went down to the Men which were fent unto him from Cornelius; and faid, Behold, I am he whom ye feek; what is the Caufe wherefore ye are

come?

22. And they faid, Cornelius the Centurion, a JUST MAN, and one that FEAR ETH GOD, and of good Report among all the Nation of the fees, was WARNED from God by an HOLY ANGEL, to fend for thee into his Houfe, and to hear Words of thee.

23. Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the Morrow Peter went away with them, and certain Brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

6. I the Lord have called thee in

Righteoutnefs, and will hold thine Hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a COVENANT of the People, for a LIGHT of the Gentiles.

Chap. xlix 6. I will also give thee for a LIGHT to the Gentiles, that thou mayit be my SALVATION, unto the Ends of the Earth.

7. Thus faith the Lord the REDEEMER of Ifrael, and his HOLY ONE, To him whom Man defpifeth, to him whom the Nation abhorreth, to a Servant of Ruiers, KINGS fhall fee and arife, Princes also shall woRSHIP, because of the Lord that is faithful, and the holy One of Ifrael, and he shall chooke thee,

Chap. lii. 7. How beautiful upon the Mountains are the Feet of him that bringeth GOOD TIDINGS, that publifheth Peace, that bringeth good Tidings of GooD, that publifheth SALVATION, that faith unto Sim, THY GOD REIGNETH!

10. The Lord hath made bare his

holy Arm in the Eyes of all the NATIONS, and all the ExDS of the EARTH fhall fee the SALVATION of our God.

Chap. lv. 5. Behold, thou shalt call a NATION that thou knoweft not, and NATIONS that knew not thee, fhall run unto thee, because of the Lord thy God, and for the holy One of Ifrael; for he hath GLORI

Chap. Ix. 3. And the Gentiles fhall come to tby LIGHT, and KINGS

they entred into Cefarea: and Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his Kinsmen and near Friends.

25. And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his Feet, and worshipped him.

26. But Peter took him

up, faying, Stand up; I my felf alfo am a Man.

27. And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28. And he faid unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful Thing for a Man that is a few, to keep company, or come unto one of another Nation : But God hath fhewed me, that I fhould not call any common or unclean.

29. Therefore came I unto you without gainfaying, as foon as I was fent for: I afk therefore for what Intent ye have fent for me?

30. And Cornelius faid, Four Days ago I was FASTING until this Hour, and at the ninth Hour I PRAYED in my Houfe, and behold, a Man food before me in BRIGHT CLOATHING,

31. And faid, Cornelius, thy PRAYER is HEARD, and thine ALMS are had in remembrance in the Sight of God.

32. Send therefore to Jop pa, and call hither Simon

Chap. xii. 1. For Zion's fake will I not hold my Peace, and for Jerufalem's fake I will not rest, un

til the RIGHTEOUSNESS thereof

go forth as Brightness, and the SALVATION thereof as a Lamp that burneth.

RIGHTEOUSNESS, and all KINGS 2. And the Gentiles fhall fee thy thy GLORY: and thou fhalt be called by a new Name, which the

Chap. lxv. 1. I am SOUGHT of them that asked not for me: I am found of them that fought me not: I faid, Behold me, behold me, unto a NATION that was not called by my Name.

Zeph. ii. 11. The Lord will be terrible unto them: tor he will

famifh all the GODS of the EARTH, and Men fhall WORSHIP him, every one from his Place, even all the Iles of the Heathen.

NATIONS, and the DESIRE of all Haggai ii. 7. I will SHAKE all Nations fhall come, and I will FILL this Houfe with GLORY, faith the

Lord of Hofts.

Zech. ii. 10. Sing and rejoice, O Daughter of Zion: for lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, faith the Lord.

11. And MANY NATIONS fhall

be joined to the Lord in that Day, and fhall be my People: And I will fhalt know that the Lord of Hofts dwell in the midst of thee, and thou hath fent me unto thee.
