Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lamp, as ye are unleavened. For even Chrift our passover is facrificed for us. Col. 2. 17. Which are a fhadow of things to come; but the body is of Chrift.

11 Cor. 10. I, 2, 3, 4. Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye fhould be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all paffed through the fea; and were all baptized unto Mofes in the cloud and in the fea. And did all eat the fame fpiritual meat; and did all drink the fame fpiritual drink. For they drank of that fpiritual rock that followed them; and that rock was Chrift. Heb. 11. 13. Thefe all died in faith, not having received the promises; but having feen them afar off, and were perfuaded of them, and embraced them, and confeffed that they were ftrangers and pilgrims on the earth. VI. Under the gofpel, when Christ the subftance", was exhibited, the ordinances in which this covenant is difpenfed are the preaching of the word, and the adminiftration of the facraments of baptifm and the Lord's fupper"; which though fewer in number, and administered with more fimplicity and lefs outward glory, yet in them it is held forth in more fulness, evidence,

Of Christ the Mediator.

T pleafed God, in his eternal purpofe, to choofe and ordain the Lord Jefus, his only begotten Son, to be the mediator between God and man, the prophet', prieft, and king"; the head and faviour of his church, the heir of all things, and judge of the world"; unto whom

II. k John I. 1, 14. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God.And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we be held his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 1 John 5. 20. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an under. ftanding that we may know him that is true: and we are in him that is true; even in his Son Jefus Chrift. This is the true God and eternal life. Phil. 2. 6. Who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God. Gal. 4. 4. But when the fulness of the time was come, God fent forth his Son made of a woman, made under the law,
