II. Faith, thus receiving and refting on Chrift and his righteousness, is the alone inftrument of justification; yet is not alone in the person juftified, but is ever accompanied with all other faving graces, and is no dead faith; but worketh by love.

III. Chrift, by his obedience and death, did fully discharge the debt of all those that are thus juftified, and did make a proper, real, and full fatisfaction to his Father's juftice in their be

Of Adoption.

LL those that are justified, God vouchfafeth, in and for his only Son Jefus Christ, to make partakers of the grace of adoption by which they are taken into the number, and enjoy the liberties and privileges of the children of God"; have his name put upon them, receive the fpirit of adoption"; have accefs to the throne of grace with boldnefs"; are

I. a Eph. 1. 5. Having predeftinated us unto the adoption of children by Jefus Chrift, to himfelf, according to the good pleasure of his will. Gal. 4. 4, 5. God fent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law; that we might receive the adoption of fons.

b Rom. 8. 17. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Chrift.---John I. 12. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the fons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
