OPINIONS OF THE PRESS.

A new edition of "The British Tariff," by Mr. Edwin Beedell, supplies a want which will have been felt by all mercantile houses since the introduction and consummation of the last Budget. It also includes an account of the new Customs' charges, together with every other fiscal rate now in force pertaining to the several departments of the revenue. The body of the work contains, as usual, full information on all points where Government regulations bear upon the operations of commerce.-Times.

This work contains a vast quantity of information incidental to the important fiscal changes effected during the past session. Its excellent arrangement must facilitate the operations of a large portion of the mercantile community.-Daily Telegraph.

The value of this work is attested by an unparalleled list of subscribers, comprising all the working heads of this busy land, from the First Lord of the Treasury to the tide-waiters of its outports.-Morning Post.

This annual volume has made its appearance in due course; and, in addition to the large mass of information given in former editions, which has made this a standard commercial work, contains a variety of fresh matter referring to the acts passed last session. The legal changes of a commercial nature being more numerous this year than usual, the present volume of Mr. Beedell's work is rendered the more valuable.-Daily News.

The completeness of the work is guaranteed by Mr. Beedell's opportunities of access to the most accredited sources of information.-Globe.

The author, from his position, has the best possible opportunity of becoming acquainted with every matter necessary to be known, and he appears to have used not only all requisite diligence in the collection of his materials, but to have put them together in a clear and business-like manner.-Shipping Gazette.

This work has been considerably extended beyond its former limits, and not the least important is the practical exposition of the regulations affecting the Export branch of the Customs. Every year sees it improved and made more worthy of the extensive patronage it receives.-Economist.

This annual publication can with confidence be recommended as a valuable reference and guide to all persons engaged in commerce. Embracing, as this work does, so large a mass of information, we are not surprised to find amongst the subscribers' names the heads of our public departments at home and abroad, as well as most of our principal merchants and officials at every port in the United Kingdom. -Observer.

This work is now too well known and universally appreciated to need any recommendation of ours, and to attempt to enumerate the vast mass of various matters collected, would be impossible.-Civil Service Gazette.
