himfelf. If I confefs that he is the propitiation for the fins of the whole world, he must be the propitiation for mine, for they were all committed within that very world, for the whole of which he is the propitiation.

The fins of the whole world cannot with any propriety or truth, be faid to be under the divine propitiatory, if mine, or any other man's are left out. The divine propitiatory includes and covers the whole world, like the heavens from whence it came down. The Chrift of God, is the Chrift of every man in the world; and is to be openly confeffed and proclaimed as fuch, by all men. He is the wisdom, righteousness, fanctification and redemption of all men, and therefore is the whole, entire, perfect and unlimitted falvation of human nature.

Nor is it enough merely to confefs this, but we must triumph in it, and boaft of it, and glory in God the Savior always, but in a special and folemn manner upon the fabbath-day. Men are reconciled to God, fin is done away, righteoufnefs is imputed, Satan and hell are vanquished,

and heaven is open; and the fabbath must be folemnly fanctified and kept as a weekly triumph. When therefore upon the morning of the fabbath, I rife out of my bed, I mean that, and every fubsequent action of the day, as acts of triumph. Whether I put on my cloaths, or eat, or drink, or worship, or walk, or fit, or fpeak, I mean nothing by it but that God is glorified and men faved. Yea, if I turn and look at any perfon or thing, the meaning and true defign of all fhall be, Jefus has triumphed, and devils are defeated.

He that will not worship on the first day of the week, and will not defign the day, and make' it facred for that purpose, refuses to triumph with God, refuses a share in the victory obtained over fin and Satan. He fpoiled principalities and powers, and openly triumphed over them, and fo must we, or perish. He that will not boldly fhow his face in the publick affembly, and design it, as an act of triumph with the Son, fhall be deemed a party in the confederacy of the vanquifhed powers of darkness. If he is not, let him come forth and fhow himself, himself, and and ftand openly in the congregation of the righteous, and

And not only fo, but men muft make an affidavit and swear to the truth of the redemption by Jesus Christ, as it appears from Ifaiah 45. 20-25 and Philippians 2. 9. 10. 11. In this paffage, we have an earnest call and exhortation to keep publick affemblies for divine worship. And the defign and bufinefs of fuch affemblies is pointed out and specified. One particular therein intended is to declare the inability of all falfe gods to fave us, and the ignorance and folly of thole who fet them up as objects of faith and homage. Antichrift, or the falfe god who is worshiped under various fhapes, is not the fon of the living God, but the child of human ignorance and folly, and is to be publickly disowned and rejected in the open worship of the evangelical church. The gofpel giving us the certain and infallible knowledge of the true God, its worship does in its own nature detect, expofe and condemn all the idols, which men's ignorance

Another part of the bufinefs of the affemblies here called together is, to look up unto the true God' and 'be faved. A worshipping affembly is to realize the idea of God, and look him in the face. That is, believe in him. To look unto him thus, and to be faved, is declared to be the duty of all men, or all the ends of the earth. All men, every man and woman to the remotest bounds of human habitations, are called upon and commanded to do so.

Again, another part of the business is to bow the knee, that is, to worship and adore Jefus Chrift, to the glory of God the father.

And finally, the business of all gospel worshippers is to be I have fworn by myself oath. upon faith the Lord, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness and fhall not return, that unto me every knee fhall bow, every tongue fhall fwear. In Philippians the apoftle renders it, confefs. This fwearing is confeffing unto God;
