Sivu 4 - THE Church hath power to decree Rites or Ceremonies, and authority in Controversies of Faith : And yet it is not lawful for the Church to ordain any thing that is contrary to God's Word written, neither may it so expound one place of Scripture, that it be repugnant to another. Wherefore, although the Church be a witness and a keeper of holy Writ, yet, as it ought not to decree any thing against the same, so besides the same ought it not to enforce any thing to be believed for necessity of Salvation.
Sivu 92 - Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple ? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar ? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the Gospel should live of the Gospel.
Sivu 91 - Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges ? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock ? 8 Say I these things as a man ? or saith not the law the same also?
Sivu 92 - Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate...
Sivu 27 - Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently...
Sivu 26 - Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you 5 but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Sivu 3 - HOLY Scripture containeth all things necessary to Salvation : so that whatsoever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be believed as an article of the faith, or be thought requisite or necessary to salvation.
Sivu 82 - None, either Man, Woman, or Child, of what calling soever, shall be otherwise at such times busied in the Church, than in quiet attendance to hear, mark, and understand that which is read, preached, or ministered ; saying in their due places audibly with the Minister, the Confession, the Lord's Prayer, and the Creed ; and make such other Answers to the Public Prayers, as are appointed in the Book of Common Prayer...
Sivu 90 - The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: All her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, Her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.
Sivu 27 - Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
