An Ordinance further to continue, for a limited time, a certain Ordinance relative to persons charged with High Treason, Suspicion of High Treason, Misprision of High Treason, and Treasonable Practices. WH HEREAS it is expedient further to continue, for a limited time, the Ordinance hereinafter mentioned :-Be it therefore Ordained and Enacted by His Excellency the Governor of the Province of Lower Canada, by and with the advice and consent of the Special Council for the affairs of the said Province, constituted and assembled by virtue of, and under the authority of an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, passed in the first year of the Reign of Her present Majesty, intituled, "An Act to make temporary "provision for the Government of Lower Canada," And it is hereby Ordained and Enacted by the authority of the same, that the Ordinance made and passed in the second year of Her Majesty's Reign, chapter four, intituled, "An Ordi.. nance to authorize the apprehension and detention of persons charged with High "Treason, Suspicion of High Treason, Misprision of High Treason, and Treason"able Practices, and to suspend, for a limited time, as to such persons, a certain "Ordinance therein mentioned, and for other purposes," shall remain in force, and the Ordinance thereby suspended, made in the twenty-fourth year of the Reign of King George the Third, intituled, "An Ordinance for securing the liberty of the Subject, and for the prevention of imprisonment out of this Province," shall further continue to be and remain suspended, until the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and forty, and no longer. Ordained and Enacted by the authority aforesaid, and passed in Special Council, under the Great Seal of the Province, at the Government House, in the City of Montreal, the Fourteenth day of November, in the third year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, and in the year of Our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty. nine. Ordonnance qui continue encore, pour un tems limité, une certaine Ordon- A TTENDU qu'il est expédient de continuer encore pour un tems limité l'Ordonnance ci-après mentionnée:-Qu'il soit en conséquence Ordonné et Statué par Son Excellence le Gouverneur de la Province du Bas.Canada, de l'avis et consentement du Conseil Spécial pour les affaires de la dite Province, constitué et assemblé en vertu et sous l'autorité d'un Acte du Parlement du Royaume-Uni de la Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande, passé dans la première année du règne de Sa présente Majesté, intitulé, "Acte pour établir des dispositions temporaires pour le Gouvernement du Bas-Canada," et il est par les présentes Ordonné et Statué par l'autorité susdite, que l'Ordonnance faite et passée dans la deuxième année du règne de Sa Majesté, chapitre quatre, intitulée, "Or. donnance qui autorise l'appréhension et détention de personnes accusées de HauteTrahison, Suspicion de Haute-Trahison, Non-révélation de Haute-Trahison et Menées Séditieuses, et qui suspend pour un tems limité, tant qu'à telles personnes, une certaine Ordonnance y mentionnée, et pour d'autres fins," continuera d'être en vigueur; et l'Ordonnance suspendue par icelle, faite dans la vingt-quatrième année du règne du Roi George Trois, intitulée, "Ordonnance qui assure la liberté du Sujet, et qui empêche l'emprisonnement hors de la Province," continuera et demeurera encore suspendue jusqu'au premier jour de Juin, mil huit cent quarante et pas plus longtems.
