Etant la continuation de la CINQUIEME Session du Conseil Spécial,

Qui a repris ses Séances à Montréal, le vingtième jour d'Avril, Anno Domini 1840, dans la troisième année du règne de Notre Souveraine Dame Victoria, par la grâce de Dieu, Reine du Royaume-Uni de la Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande, Protectrice de la Foi, &c., et qui s'est ajourné de nouveau le Treizième jour de Mai suivant.

An Ordinance to render permanent certain Acts of the Legislature of this
Province, relative to the District of St. Francis.

HEREAS it is expedient to render permanent the Acts of the Legislature of this Province hereinafter mentioned, which have been continued in force by a certain Ordinance of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government of this Province, authorized to execute the Commission of the Governor thereof, and of the Special Council for the affairs of the said Province, passed in the first year of Her Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Ordinance to continue for a limited "time, certain Acts of the Legislature of this Province, relative to the District of "Saint Francis," until the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and forty-two, when they would otherwise expireBe it therefore Ordained and Enacted by His Excellency the Governor of this Province of Lower Canada, by and with the advice and consent of the Special Council for the affairs of this Province, constituted and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, passed in the first year of the Reign of Her present Majesty, intitued, "An Act to "make temporary provision for the Government of Lower Canada;" ard also by virtue and under the authority of a certain other Act of the same Parliament, passed in the Session held in the second and third years of the Reign of Her present Majesty, intituled, "An Act to amend an Act of the last Session of Parliament, for making "temporary provision for the Government of Lower Canada;" And it is hereby Ordained and Enacted by the authority of the said Acts of Parliament, that the Act Act 3, Geo.IV. of the Legislature of this Province, passed in the third year of theReign of His late Majesty King George the Fourth, and intituled, "An Act to erct certain townships therein mentioned into an Inferior District, to be calld the District of Saint Francis, and to establish Courts of Judicature therein," is amended by the 10 & 11 Geo. Acts hereinafter mentioned, and the Act of the said Legislature, assed in the tenth and eleventh years of the Reign of His said late Majesty, intitled, "An Act to "continue for a limited time, a certain Act passed in the thirdyear of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act to erect certain Townships therein mentioned, "into an Inferior District, to be called the Inferior District of Saint Francis, and "to establish Courts of Judicature therein," and to make furter provision for the
