THE EPISTLE 1 St, Pet.iii. 8.

E ye all of one mind, having compassion

ful, be courteous; not rendering evil for evil,
or railing for railing; but contrariwise, bless->
ing, knowing that ye are thereunto called, that
ye should inherit a blessing. For he that will
love life, and see good days, let him refrain his
tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak
no guile let him eschew evil, and do good
let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the
eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and
his ears are open unto their prayers: but the
face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
And who is he that will harın you, if ye be
followers of that which is good? But and if
ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye:
and be not afraid of their terror, neither be
troubled; but sanctify the Lord God in your [
hearts.

IT came to pass, that, as the pe
as the people pressed
upon him to hear the Word of God, he
stood by the lake of Gennesaret, and saw two
ships standing by the lake; but the fishermen
were gone out of them, and were washing
their nets. And he entered into one of the
ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him
that he would thrust out a little from the land.
And he sat down, and taught the people out
of the ship. Now, when he had left speaking,
he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep,
and let down your nets for a draught. And
Simon answering said unto him, Master, we
have toiled all the night, and have taken noth-
ing; nevertheless at thy word I will let down
the net. And when they had this done, they

enclosed a great multitude of fishes and their # net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was as-1 tonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken ;) and so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; fromd henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.o quo tad arrest DR - 42 La38d0 KIT

THE EPISTLE. Rom. vi. 3.

NOW ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so, we also should walk in

newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.he andreb

THE GOSPEL. St. Matt. v. 20.

ESUS said unto his disciples, Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment. But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell-fire. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee, leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver

I

SPEAK after the manner of men, because of the infirmity of your flesh for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity, unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness, unto holiness. For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ bur Lord.

THE GOSPEL. St. Mark viii. 1. N those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them, I have

compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat and if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way; for divers of them came from far. And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness? And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven. And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people. And they had a few small fishes; and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them. So they did eat, and were filled and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets. And they that had eaten were about four thousand. And he sent them away.
